THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for East Mamprusi, Adam Imoro lost control of his emotions and launched a ferocious attack on some National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth working under Zoomlion in the district for deliberately sabotaging the efforts of the ruling government.

The DCE could not comprehend why the over 274 employees of the company in the district should be taking salaries every month, but intentionally refusing to work to commensurate the vision set out by President John Dramani Mahama to making Ghana a clean nation.

Addressing officials and workers of Zoomlion in Gambaga at the End of Year Prayers and Thanksgiving Service, Mr. Adam Imoro vowed to terminate the appointments of those “lazy NDC youth” to make way for serious and ready to work persons to takeover.

“2016 is far but not too far from here. So we in government must work hard or manage the resources of the people very well so that we don’t get booted out from office in 2016. I, therefore, expect that those of you in NDC must work hard to make our government popular, but what do we see? It is rather our political opponents, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth among you who are doing the work and you and I know what I am saying is the truth”.

The DCE emphasized that he could no longer condone or tolerate the lackadaisical attitude of the NDC youth who were supposed to support programmes and policies of the ruling government, but were rather contributing to its failure.

He asked all of them to tender in their resignation letters within five working days for actions to be taken by the Coordinators of Zoomlion to save the district from being engulfed with filth.

“Current government has made sanitation one of its key priorities to ensure healthy people for economic growth. Whether it is legal or illegal I want to suggest here that everybody’s appointment must be terminated so that those who think they don’t deserve to sweep or work under zoomlion because NDC is in power can leave and wait till we get them the kind of jobs they want, and those who are ready to work can reapply.

“The salaries government pays you are not for charity but from taxpayers’ pockets and that money must be managed well”.

Mr. Adam Imoro bemoaned that the lazy attitudes of the workers had changed Gambaga and other communities in the district into filthy communities especially the streets of Gambaga.

He complained that the Zoomlion workers were not leaving any exemplary life for members of the public to emulate as far as keeping good sanitary environment in their various homes and surroundings is concerned.

“The workers are those who liter the environment most of the time. They come out to pick litters while their bowls are not washed. They come out to clean the streets, while just behind their houses litters are flying all over”.

The DCE therefore appealed to the Zoomlion Management to build the capacity of the workers to enable them go beyond just sweeping on the streets or desilting gutters and get involved in educating the public to maintain good sanitary environment.

The Northern Regional Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Volsuuri explained that the annual prayers and thanksgiving service by the company was instituted by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw to honour God Almighty for how far he had brought the company.

He commended the DCE for his passionate and nonpolitical statement, which he acknowledged to be true.

Mr. Volsuuri reminded the workers that they represent the face and the image of Zoomlion in the communities hence whatever behavior they put up directly or indirectly affected the company.

He assured the DCE that his outfit would not hesitate to terminate the appointment of any recalcitrant and lazy staff in any of the districts.

The Northern Regional Zoomlion Boss however condemned the indiscriminate and careless manner in which refuse and other waste materials are disposed off in the various communities across the region. According to him, Zoomlion was now poised to intensify its public education to change the negative attitudes of the masses to ensure a clean, healthy and hygienic environment in Ghana.
