A group calling itself Concern Citizens of Wenchi on Monday appealed to the presidency to revoke the nomination of Mr Hakibu Dauda as the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive with immediate effect.
It claimed the nomination of Mr Dauda, who is the Wenchi Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, had shocked the chiefs and people of the municipality.
A statement signed by John Appau, spokesperson of the group, and made available to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, alleged that the presidents nominee was a leader of a gang that burnt down the Wenchi NDC constituency party office in 2009.
Copies of the statement were sent to the Wenchi Municipal Office of the Bureau of National Investigations, Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council and the NDC headquarters in Accra.
According to the group, Mr Dauda forged his certificates to deceive the vetting committee, chaired by Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister.
The statement alleged that the academic qualifications of the president nominee including Diploma in Basic Education he obtained from the University of Cape Coast (2007), Advance Diploma in Business Studies (ICM UK 2010) and the BSc Management Studies (ICM-UK 2012) were all false.
They appealed to the BNI to conduct investigations into the academic credentials of the president's nominee adding that if the presidency failed to revoke Mr Daudas nomination.
We will not allow a dubious character like Dauda to be appointed as the Wenchi MCE, the statement said adding we will head to court if the president fails to revoke his nominee.
