Mr. Eric Opoku, Ashanti Regional Minister, has stressed the need for strong work ethics to enhance productivity as the nation readied itself for the New Year.

Workers, he said, should therefore reject bad attitudes and unhealthy practices that tend to make them unproductive and a drain on the nations budget.

Mr Opoku made the call at an annual get-together held by the Regional Co-ordinating Council Staff Welfare Association in Kumasi.

Mr. Opoku said they should work to earn their salary and that it could not be business as usual.

He was of the view that the nation could significantly reduce poverty, if all accepted to perform their assigned duties and jobs with a sense of nationalism, dedication and passion.

The Regional Minister said this was the path to travel if the nation was to make any headway in its socio-economic development effort.

The event provided the platform for stock-taking and appraisal of the associations performance during the year.
Some retiring members were recognized for their long and dedicated service to the nation, and they received certificates of honour.

Mr. Opoku invited them to continue to put their experience and expertise at the disposal of the Council.
