MR. THOMAS Kwabena Braimah, a Kumasi based business man and a known financier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has picked nomination form to contest for the regional chairmanship position of the party, following the opening of nominations.

The party is banking its hope on Mr. Braimah to achieve the ambitious 30% total votes in the region, as he bids to unseat Yaw Obimpeh, the incumbent, in the upcoming Ashanti Regional NDC elections.

He has advised that the impending elections should be devoid of insults and bickering and has urged the youth to beware of people who lure them into hooliganism in the name of party activism.

Mr. Braimah, a business magnate, who is hopeful of annexing the chairmanship of the party in the region intends to pump new blood into the leadership of the party and has urged the delegates to vote for peace preachers and unifiers.

According to him, there is the need for new faces to come on board to save the party from collapse and ensure that the party secures enough votes to retain power at the 2016 elections.

In his team to bring about the needed change in Ashanti NDC are Peter Anarfi-Mensah, the headmaster of Tepa Senior High School, vying for the first Vice chairman, while Nana Akwasi, alias Augustus Andrews, wants the second vice chairman position.

Messrs Rashid Alhassan and Brogya Gyamfi are vying for the Organizer and Youth Organizer posts respectively.

The acting Regional Secretary of the party, Mr. Raymond Tandoh, who has been acting in that position since Mr. Joseph Yamin was made the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, is highly tipped to assume the position against the bid of Mr. Mike Amedior, a Kumasi-based ex FIFA Referee.

The incumbent Regional Womens Organizer, Ama Sarpomaa, is also set to maintain her position as she is yet to know if anyone will contest her. Mr. Samed Akalilu, who now heads the Regional Communication team, is highly tipped to secure the Propaganda Secretary position.

A Lecturer at Kumasi Polytechnic, Kwame Zu, is also campaigning vigorously to secure the Deputy Regional Secretary slot with other candidates.

Meanwhile, Mr. Brogya Genfi, Youth Organizer aspirant, has expressed his optimism that the NDC would win more votes than ever in the upcoming 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections with him as the youth organizer. He intends to work for a million votes for the party
in the region.

The aspirant has accused the incumbent regional leadership of lack of accountability and transparency since a GHc300, 000 youth development fund set up in 2010 by the party cannot be accounted for.

Brogya Genfi is counting on his experience as a serial caller, communicator, TEIN member, branch youth organizer, branch secretary and Suame constituency secretary and currently deputy propaganda secretary of the party.

In a related development, the Kumasi Polytechnic branch of TEIN has honoured the deputy Ashanti region minister and two other party stalwarts in the region for their exemplary contributions to the progress of the NDC.

The other two include Head of the Communication Team, Mr. Samed Akalilu and a patron of K-Poly TEIN, who is also a Lecturer at the school, Mr. Kwame Zu.
