Be Level Headed About Campaigns - NDC Aspirants

Aspirants vying for positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have been urged to conduct their campaigns with decorum to ensure a united front for the 2016 elections.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, a former Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, pointed out that the current exercise to elect executives to steer the affairs of the party was an internal contest to deepen democracy in the NDC and not ‘a do and die affair.’

He said aspirants should avoid insults and acrimonious campaigns, which would leave animosity amongst them because irrespective of who would win; they would have to unite and work to ensure victory for the NDC in the 2016 election to continue the Better Ghana Agenda.

Mr Tackie Komme, who is aspiring to be the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, stated that as members of the same NDC family who wanted the good and development of the party their current efforts to assume leadership roles in the NDC should be seen as a “friendly contest”, which should see the party as the winner to retain power.

He, therefore, cautioned them against personal attacks and insults, saying that their campaigns should rather be based on issues and what they could do to ensure victory for the party.

The former MP, the only candidate to have won the seat twice, advised delegates who would be voting not to be influenced by money and other material things, saying ‘some aspirants who can deliver may not be rich but can move the party forward and ensure victory in 2016.’

On the 2016 general election, the candidate said: “The task ahead is not an easy one, which calls for a united front and not name calling and insults, which would only go to the advantage of the opposition”.
