National Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ludwig Hlodze has lost his seat.
Over 800 National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth representing their members from 275 constituencies, 10 regional offices and 120 tertiary institutions on Saturday, elected a new National Youth Organiser and two deputies in a keenly contested election in Kumasi.
According to Hello FM’s Isaac Owusu, Ludwig lost his seat to his close contender, Sidii Abubakar Musah who polled 385 of the total votes cast.
Ludwig had 196 votes. Other candidates who were also contesting the same seat but lost were: Prince Kasim (7) Abubakr Mutiu (89 votes), Paa Kwesi (4 votes).
According to this reporter, some supporters of the candidates who lost called for a recounting but the Electoral Commission turned down their requested and declared Abubakar Musah the winner.
In his victory speech, Musah urged the delegates to put the election behind them and forge ahead towards victory in 2016.
"We have no time to waste but an election to win in 2016. The NDC and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama need our energy and our talents unconditionally” he said.
