The Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has given a stern warning to government communication appointees and some of the National Executives to respect the party structure of leadership.
In reference to the press conferences held by Kofi Adams to condemn the demonstration organized by the opposition NPP and his justification over the erratic power supply, Koku Anyidoho has disagreed saying “we are in crises and in crises we don’t insult but rather plead”.
According to the former Director of Communications at the Presidency of the late President Mills, the newly elected National Executives must respect the party structure as there is an order of leadership and supremacy according to the party’s constitution.
Speaking on Oman FM’s "National Agenda" Morning Show, Koku Anyidoho mentioned that the party structure is such that the National Chairman and his Vice Chairpersons are followed by the General Secretary positions before any other position comes.
He underscored that it is time to instill discipline in the party, reminding that the General Secretary runs the secretariat and not the National Organizer.
“..As a party, we must respect the structures; we have the chairman, the vice chairmen, the General Secretary but the General Secretary runs the secretariat and not the Organizer. People should not stand up in their homes to hold press conferences in the name of the party.
“The Constitution is very clear and so if someone will turn himself as a grasshopper from one place to another to hold press conference, I will not allow it; so let nobody usurp the powers of my boss, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. He is the General Secretary of the party and so shall it be; he runs and manages the secretariat and nobody can take that away from him,” he warned.
He maintained that he is poised to instill discipline in the party as he made a promise to the delegates before the National Executive elections; adding “you don’t insult rather you plead and you will appeal to the heart and conscience of the people to bear with you that better days are ahead and that’s what my President is doing and so I support him”.
