General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has rubbished the publication by the Herald Newspaper with the headline “Massive Fraud At NPP Headquarters?” in Monday, March 23-Tuesday March 24, 2015 edition.
According to the Herald Newspaper publication, a suspicious agreement has popped up at the Asylum Down Headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with an overwhelming belief that some party faithful, who genuinely thought they were making financial contributions towards the sustenance of their party, have sadly been duped.
The problematic agreement was reached between the NPP National Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah, and a private company called Textgenesys Limited (TGL) to raise funds for the largest opposition political party.
Shockingly, the agreement is totally unknown to the NPP National Chairman and the General Secretary, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong respectively.
The two powerful individuals in charge of the Asylum Down office in Accra, The Herald is informed have cancelled the agreement upon its discovery. It was dated October 10, 2014, with the mobilization of the funds to commence on November 1, 2014.
But responding to the allegation, Kwabena Agyapong on Okay FM's "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show said there is no iota of truth in the publication.
The NPP Chief Scribe further indicated that the publication is from the ruling NDC's rented press [The Herald] to create division in the opposition NPP, adding he is not prepared to discuss publicly NPP's internal affairs but insisted the publication is false which has malicious intention to create the impression there is confusion in the NPP.
“There is no massive fraud at NPP Headquarters; the publication is false which has the intention to create the impression that there is division in NPP...Whisk the allegation away because there is no truth in this. We are going for a serious meeting and that is the most important thing for us now...I’m not ready to discuss in public NPP internal issues,” he debunked.
