Friends of Bernard Dong Bortey have warned the Minority Leader in Parliament to do an in-depth research before using their darling as an analogy in a disparaging manner.
As the New Patriotic Party prepares for their internal parliamentary elections, the Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, is reported to have warned delegates that voting him out, is equal to substituting Lionel Messi in a crucial match with Dong- Bortey, a former player of Accra Hearts of Oak.
This comparison seems to have angered friends of the former Blackstar player.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com the leader of the group, Prince Kofi Owusu, claimed that when Dong Bortey was in his prime, he :
· played in the African Champions League with Accra Hearts of Oak SC in 2001
· won the Ghanaian Premier League three times with Accra Hearts of Oak SC
· was the topscorer of the 2012 GHALCA Top Four tournament .
In the eyes of the group, the achievement of Bernard Dong Bortey dwarfs that of the Minority Leader under whose regime the New Patriotic Party has stayed in opposition for close to eight years.
