Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye says he would readily welcome a transfer from the region to other parts of the country.
The Police commander speaking on Nhyira FM in Kumasi said he is ever prepared to pack his bag and baggage and leave the city anytime he receives a transfer letter.
“When I get to the office and there is a transfer letter waiting for me, I will gladly accept and by 2:00 PM would pack my belongings and leave the region….”
The commander in recent times came under lots of pressure following an open campaign by persons believed to be NDC members for him to be transferred from the region. But he was given the backing of authorities in the region when the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended him for his good works.
Several months down the lane, DCOP Boakye maintains he is ready to leave the volatile region which according to him deserves ‘perpetual vigilance’.
DCOP Kofi Boakye also revealed on the show that he had been forced to withdraw MTTU personnel from the roads in the region following numerous complains of extortion by drivers and commuters.
The Regional Commander said Police in the region is re-strategizing to meet the demands of the populace.
