The Communication Director for the opposition NPP, Nana Akomea has described former party presidential hopeful, Arthur Kennedy's advice to Nana Addo as “baseless”.

Arthur Kennedy opined that, the NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should have rather condemned attempts by regional executives to overthrow National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong during his press conference last week.

Most people in the National Executive Council (NEC) have already revealed their stance. The same NEC people have been inundated with a number of petitions. So first, Nana Addo should have unequivocally condemned the impeachment procedures that was the key essential for peace. The second thing is that he should have gone to the press conference with Agyepong on his left and Afoko on his right and called for peace,” he said on Citi FM.

But Nana Akomea sees his advice as groundless after maintaining that, Nana Addo was right to have called for calm in the party.

He [Arthur Kennedy] said Akufo-Addo should have come out clearly and condemn the cause of impeachment. Why will Akufo-Addo do that? These are opinions being expressed by party members so what Nana Akufo-Addo advised was for party members to follow the grievance procedure and maintain calmness in the party,” he said on Citi FM

Arthur Kennedy makes the point that people don’t want Afoko and Agyepong to work without any proof…What is the basis of his statement that people have prevented the Chairman and the General Secretary from working?” he questioned.

NPP’s internal strife intensified over the last few weeks following an acidic bath on Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama leading to his death.

Some members of the party have accused Chairman Paul Afoko and chief scribe Kwabena Agyepong for engineering the act but the two have denied their involvement.

The duo were barred from the party’s headquarters by "Invisible Forces", a private security force stationed at the premises.

But flagbearer, Nana Addo advised his members to stop pointing fingers and wait for the police to conclude their investigations after ordering that Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong be given access to their offices to operate.
