The aspirations of some individuals contesting in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) impending parliamentary primaries may hit snag by close of day today, as the party’s national election committee meets at the party’s headquarters to determine the fate of aspirants whose candidature had faced some level of opposition from various quarters.

Aspirants whose cases would be looked at by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) include Nii Noi Nortey, Korley Klottey who has been accused of presenting a fake University of Ghana certificate, ostensibly to outwit officials of the vetting committee.

Ahead of today’s NEC meeting, delegates from the constituency petitioned the Regional Vetting Appeal Committee against the decision to allow Mr. Nortey to contest the primaries as his certificate purported to be coming from the University of Ghana was forged and its mere withdrawal during his vetting poses a threat to the party should he be elected as the parliamentary aspirant of the party.

The New Crusading GUIDE is reliably informed that Nortey, sensing danger during his vetting withdrew his so called degree certificate under very questionable circumstances, although all documents being used to advertise his aspirations suggested that he graduated from UG in 2004.

A highly place source within the party who spoke to this reporter on conditions of anonymity said "The incidents of misrepresentation, which appear to be on the rise in the country, will not be tolerated by the party as they impact negatively on the reputation of not only NPP but the country as well as its institutions and the credibility of Parliament”.

He went on to caution aspirants who were embellishing their CVs with fraudulent academic qualifications that the NPP is committed to rooting out such behaviour and would go a step further to investigate the background of aspirants who have presented dubious CVs.

It would be recalled that the delegates in their petitition stated that the certificate from the University of Ghana was not the only certificate allegedly forged but Nii Noi’s Voters ID Card and his NPP membership cards were also questionable.

Aside investigations about the authenticity of Nortey’s certificate which has already been confirmed by the institution (UG), another issue likely to be tabled for discussion is an alleged attack on an Oman FM Ga Danmgbe political show host by thugs allegedly linked to the aspirant when the presenter raised the false certificate issue on his show.

The matter which was reported to the Police is currently being heard in Court. The presenter described to the Police how he narrowly escaped death on his way home from work.
