New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Odododiodoo constituency of the Greater Accra region, Nii Lantey Bannerman has denied allegations he is involved in fueling ongoing demonstrations by ejected residents of Old Fadama.
His namesake and rival, the incumbent Member of Parliament Nii Lante Vanderpuye, laid the charges Monday on Asempa FM, including the distribution of placards bearing anti-government messages and paraphernalia of the opposition NPP to the angry residents whose homes and shops were pulled down on grounds they occupied the place illegally.

Vanderpuye had said Bannerman was involved in an attempt to score political points and that he was very ashamed of the party's behaviour. He said it was clear his likely opponent was not matured politically hence his resort to politicise an issue that needed non-partisan collaboration to cure.

He advised Bannerman to measure his actions well, saying if he approached his politics that way, he was not going to garner even 12,000 votes in the 2016 elections.

But Bannerman said he was surprised anyone could cite him to be involved in any action at the place because he had not even set foot there, given how volatile the situation was.

He said he had not distributed anything, but that among the structures pulled down was an NPP office that housed party property.

Bannerman said he was surprised at the childish accusation, especially coming from Nii Lante Vanderpuye who he had expected to know him better.
