Government Communicator, Sam George has hinted that the National Labour Commission (NLC) has banned both leadership and members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and the government from commenting on the doctors' strike action.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Sam George revealed that as part of measures to resolve the impasse between the GMA and the government, the regulatory body has warned government officials not to make remarks in the media regarding the strike.
In respect of this, the outspoken government communicator insistently refused to deliver his submissions on the programme.
He further disclosed that the NLC will meet all the parties on Monday August 24, 2015 to address the issue.
“The government wants to resolve this impasse. We don’t want to do anything to complicate issues…I know government communicators and officials won’t talk about this matter again,” he said adding that they shall meet with the National Labour Commission on Monday at 4 pm.
He however concluded with an appeal to the doctors to immediately call off their strike because the NLC has indicated that "they cannot carry out negotiation while any party is striking under duress.”
