Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC], Bernard Allotey Jacobs, says the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] is wasting its time by concocting figures about Ghana’s voters’ register.
According to him, the opposition NPP is not ready to win the 2016 elections because they have abandoned the basis of politics which requires that they relate with the people very well and come up with a message which will convince them, amidst policing the polling stations and have rather resorted to conjuring “voodoo tactics”.
The NPP has alleged over 76, 286 people with same names and pictures are in the voters’ registers of both Ghana and Togo.
It is based on this allegation that the ‘Educated Fisherman’ as he is affectionately called said on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show that “NPP is not serious to win this 2016 election. They are wasting their time; this will not work for them”.
He maintained that the NPP has not learnt any lesson from their mistake as they are refusing to strengthen their polling stations, but rather are hoping to fan this allegation of bloated voters’ register to cause confusion in the country.
He again alleged that the NPP and its communicators have met to decide that they will continue with the noise about bloated voters’ register so that they can win public sympathy; stressing “NPP political voodoo at work…everyday they will go and conjure something new”.
He was optimistic that President Mahama is winning the 2016 general elections again because the opposition NPP doesn’t engage in scientific politics to analyze situations and find lasting solutions to them as these are the means to win elections.
He insisted the happenings in the country will not make the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] win the 2016 elections easily; adding that going to the street with placards with the hope to win public sympathy will not help as Ghanaians are tired of NPP’s propaganda tactics.
