A car belonging to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party was on Tuesday pelted with stones at the party’s headquarters (click to read more).
After the incident, an image emerged showing the broken back windscreen but Deputy Communications Director of the party (NPP), Perry Okudjeto says it is not true that the car was badly damaged as the picture depicts.
He suggested that the extent of damage to the car when Kwabena Agyepong reported to them during the Steering Committee meeting was not that severe and that “maybe when the car left the party headquarters before the severe damage was done”
“It was a crack on the driver’s side of the back windscreen….the rip-out pictures that you see in the media is not what transpired at the party’s headquarters. When you come to the headquarters you will not see broken bottles on the floor…we are a political party and we have an image to protect. Already we have several instances of bastardisation of the party’s image and we need to take the guarding of the image of our party seriously…yes we agree someone threw a stone but the extent of damage done to the car is different from what is being put out in the public domain….definitely it was after the vehicle left the party’s headquarters that the glass was further you know…as to what the motive is I cannot speak to that….” Perry Okudjeto stated.
