Youth in Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region are demonstrating over results of last weekend’s primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Incumbent Member of Parliament, Jeff Tetteh Kavianu, emerged winner of the primaries over closest challenger Bismark Tetteh Nyarko.
But the youth of the area claim the Electoral Commission mistakenly declared the results in favour of the incumbent.
Leader of the demonstrating youth Jonathan Narh Nomo told TV3’s Yvonne Neequaye on Monday, November 23 that results at one of the polling centers were massaged in favour of the incumbent after Mr Nyarko was seen to be in a commanding lead.
They want fresh elections held if the results are not overturned, our reporter said.
