Atik Mohammed says the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) must be dissolved.
Speaking on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, the newly-elected General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC) told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesse that the PURC has failed Ghanaians woefully in discharging their core mandate.
According to him, the economic challenges have crippled the lives of and businesses of Ghanaians and thus, expected the PURC to have been considerate towards consumers before announcing increases in the utility tariffs.
“The membership of PURC, they have failed on their mandate. They must all be sacked. It should be dissolved,” he pontificated.
The PNC General Secretary stated emphatically that Ghanaians are "just wasting our taxes on PURC".
"They’re not working as demanded of them. Already, the Ghanaian is already stressed economically. As we sit here, nobody is seeing an increase in income. In real income, everybody’s income is reducing. In fact, the lack of electricity is part of the reasons why incomes are declining,” he added.
