Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson says the only thing which will save the sinking image of President John Dramani Mahama from his inability to perform and deliver on his numerous promises is for him to honorably resign.

According to her, the Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor and the Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor’s resignations are a indirect signal to President John Dramani Mahama to resign for his incompetence.

Dr Kwabena Donkor handed in his resignation on Thursday, December 31, 2015, following what Graphic Online understands were moves to sack him if he had failed to resign.

Dr. Donkor had upon his appointment, put his job on the line by offering to resign at the end of the year (2015) if he failed to resolve the energy crisis facing the country; particularly load shedding.

The Ministry on Wednesday, 30th December, announced an end to load shedding; but a few hours later after that announcement, the Load Management Committee repudiated the claim, saying despite significant gains in the energy situation, load shedding was not over.

Dr Donkor subsequently stepped down following which the President thanked him for his services as the pioneer Minister for the new ministry carved out of the then Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

Speaking exclusively to Peacefmonline.com, the NPP MP said the resignations of his ministers are a wakeup call to President Mahama that the NDC government's days in office are numbered.

She added that Ghanaians are ready to vent their anger on President Mahama in this year's election for failing to live up to expectation.

I think it will serve President Mahama well if he resigns honorably for the fact that he has failed to accomplish all the promises he made to Ghanaians. In fact he should have been the first person to resign if his ministers have resigned under corruption and unfulfilled promises…he should follow the good example of his Power Minister”, she advised.
