The current youngest Member of Parliament, Collins Owusu Amankwah says the time has come for the youth of the country to take charge of their destiny and to lead the crusade for a change of government.

He said the current spate of hopelessness should not be allowed to continue and lead the country into an abyss of misery.
Mr. Owusu Amankwah, who is the MP for Manhyia North told Graphic Online at the fund raising ceremony organized by the party in Kumasi on Saturday, that the youth of this country were facing lots of challenges vis-a-vis unemployment, lack of opportunities.

He said: “even those who are into self-employment do not get access to funds to remain in business.”

This, coupled with the unprecedented energy crisis that the country experienced for almost four years and the hike in utility tariffs, he said, have compounded the plight of the youth.

He said it was time for the youth to rise up and lead the crusade to bring positive change into the lives of Ghanaians and thereby changing their destiny.

According to him, tailors, barbers and hairdressers do not have access to regular power supply to enable them to work to earn a living.

“It is worrying to see the youth in Ghana express hopelessness in the current state of affairs since they are faced with the glaring truth of an incompetent government.

“Even those who have learnt a trade or skills just to make ends meet to take care of their families are the hardest hit,” he said.

Earlier, the Minority Leader of Parliament and MP Suame, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, also asked the Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP and intensify the campaign to get Nana Akufo-Addo elected.

He said Ghanaians were crying for a change in government and it was time for the party faithful and Ghanaians in general to bring the party back to power.

“We cannot afford to disappoint Ghanaians this time,” he said and appealed to all to put their hands on deck for a resounding victory for the party come November this year.
