The Supreme Court is now the new battle ground in the suit challenging the eligibility of Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings as the 2016 National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary nominee for the Klottey Korle Constituency.
This followed the filing of an application at the Supreme Court by Dr Rawlings challenging the jurisdiction of the High Court to hear the case.
In view of this, the High Court has stayed proceedings pending the determination of the application in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court will sit on the case on April 26, 2016
Meanwhile, Nii Armah Ashiety, the incumbent MP of the constituency and the Plaintiff in the case has described the application by Dr Rawlings as a tactic meant to delay and frustrate the suit at the High Court.
Speaking to his supporters at the NDC constituency office at Klottey Korle, Nii Ashietey said the Supreme Court application was just to allow Dr Rawlings to register during the limited voter registration exercise which would start from April 28 and end on May 8, 2016.
