Newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Ableuma West constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has urged NPP members to work as a unified force to maximize the party’s chances of winning in the November polls.

Madam Owusu-Ekuful polled 554 votes, while her contender Robert Kwesi Nicol garnered 317 in a delayed primary held at the Dansoman police station polling center in Accra.

The third contender, one Theophilus Tetteh, pulled out of the race at the last hour because according to him, he still had issues with the register.

Ursula in her victory speech emphasized the need for party members to support their candidates in various constituencies to either retain or capture seats for the party.

“The time to work has come… It is time for us to come together as one party, united behind their candidates to work hard to retain the seat and to maximize votes for our presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo. “NPP is winning the general election and every single one of our members ought to be part of the victory which is imminent.”

NDC members should join The incumbent MP said she is hopeful some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will support her bid to lead the constituency again.

“I open my heart and my home and my hands out to everybody in the constituency and I am even looking forward to the NDC members in the constituency, coming to join us because they know the caliber of Member of Parliament that they have and they have also assured me that they would assist me to continue the good work.” She further extended her gratitude to persons who supported her in her quest to be the party’s parliamentary candidate.

“I thank Mr. Robert Kwesi Nicol for giving me a run for my money and he got quite a few more votes than I thought he would. I will appeal to Theophilus Tetteh and his supporters to reconsider their decision in the interest of the party. I thank every member of my team , I thank the almighty God for letting this grace and favour shine on me.”
