Tension is mounting in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western region over the dismissal of five (5) election directors of the party in the area, Today can report.

The dismissal of the five, Today gathered, was the decision of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Kweku Tanikye Kessie, who is a member of the NDC.

The five were Mr. Frank Somiah Andoh, Bukari Akansise, Kenneth Agbeti, Patrick Andoh and Jackson Akainnya who are all members of the directorate.

Information available to Today revealed that the five personalities were sacked through the Evalue Gwira Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Charles Kwao Adjei.

In an interview with Today yesterday, the five affected personalities registered their dissatisfaction, describing the whole incident as “childish and premature attempts” by Mr. Kessie to deny us the opportunity to serve our party dispassionately.”

They contended that the MP instead of using his office to unite all members and non-members of the NDC so as to help retain the seat was rather “promoting hatred, bitterness, segregation, tension and apathy among members,” especially those who did not support his bid during the recently held parliamentary primary.

The move by Hon. Kessie, according to the affected personalities, was premature and ought to be condemned.

They therefore called on the rank-and-file of the party to call the MP to order so as to help maintain the relative peace the party was enjoying in the constituency.

They also recalled that eleven party members were nominated in June 2015, of which seven were successfully selected in August 2015, after several considerations by the appointment committee from the regional wing of the party.

They pointed out that after the whole process, “one of us was also appointed as the head of the directorate’s activities to supervise internal elections.”

According to them, the directorate was in charge of the party’s exhibition exercise prior to the party’s primary without any payment or incentive to “us which we never complained, since we saw as a sacrifice and great opportunity to serve our party.”

They noted that there have been many instances where they had had to finance their operations as elections directorate without any help from the constituency executives.

They, therefore, asked whether the NDC’s constitution allows an MP to sack somebody from the party.

“We wish to ask Hon. Kessie of his contributions to the party’s activities since 2013 to date?

Why is he making every move to remove the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) forgetting that it is his face which will be on the ballot box and that of the president?

To this end, they urged the MP to be more serious and sit up as well as focus on uniting all rather than scattering the true loyalists of the party.

They further urged him to stop making any moves to cause tension in the party.

When Today reached the MP on phone, he sent a text message that he was in a meeting.
