Deputy Ashanti regional minister Andy Osei Okrah has said he is doing fine days after two bombs were discovered at his residence in Kumasi, the regional capital and later defused by experts.
“We are alive and kicking. I’m OK. We are not afraid of anything. God is in control. I’m fine,” Mr Okrah told Prince Minkah on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Thursday, 3 October.
The bombs discovered on Tuesday were thrown into the minister’s residence by some unknown persons who made their getaway on a motorbike, Ashanti regional Minister Alexander Ackon said on the day of the incident.
Asked if he suspected foul play, Mr Ackon said: “Obviously you don’t need a conclusion to say that there’s huge foul play just that you don’t want me to go into the political domain because that is not where we are looking immediately at. But the reality of the situation is that it has happened.”
According to Adehye FM’s reporter Mununkum Owoahene Addai, personnel of the anti-terrorism unit of the Ashanti regional police command stormed the Deputy Minister’s house and scouted the area to ensure that all explosives, if any, were defused.
The discovery of the explosive compelled the Regional Security Council to hold an emergency meeting.
