Spokesperson for the John Mahama campaign Joyce Bawa Mogtari has appealed to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo to give way for a much younger person to lead the party.
According to her, the former attorney general has contributed his bit to the growth of the country and must bow out now for other people in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition to continue.
Speaking on the Morning Starr Wednesday, the deputy transport minister said Nana Addo will be retired from politics in December when Ghana goes to the polls.
“I think it is time for a change over in the type of politics the NPP runs. I think it is time for Akufo-Addo to give way to a younger version of himself. It's time for the President to retire Nana Addo so we can congratulate him for the good fight fought. I think Nana Addo’s time was with Kufuor,” she said.
She added that even though the President faced severe challenges in the initial part of his administration, he handled them with finesse.
“Though the NDC has faced some challenges Mahama has handled them professionally and it shows he is a leader. Anyone who has encountered the President and his vice President will tell you about their quality and the kind of ideas they espouse”.
Commenting further on the NDC’s boycott of the IEA’s debate, Mrs. Mogtari said the IEA has a history of bias against the ruling party and they will not allow it to continue.
“We raised concerns about bias and certain past conduct of the IEA and those issues are serious to us. There are issues we raised that they have not been able to respond to. Our participation in the IEA will give the IEA some credibility...in future, we might participate in the IEA debate but not now,” she said.

I WISH YOU HADN'T GONE THERE MY DEAR LADY. HOW CAN YOU DECIDE WHO BECOME WHAT IN AN OPPOSING PARTY? SEE THE BARRAGE AND ARSENAL OF INSULTS YOU HAVE RECEIVED. I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. JUST RELAX AND PRAY THAT YOUR YOUTHFUL PRESIDENT WILL CORRECT HIS ADMITTED MISTAKES. NANA HAS THE EXPERIENCE, BAWUMIAH HAS THE YOUTHFUL EXUBERANCE, A PERFECT PAIR!
I am for youth development hence I choose JM. But seriously is the NPP going to change Nana Addo in 2020 elections should he wins this election? Because Nana in 8yrs will be approaching 81 years and I don't know of any right thinking person who would like to force such a person to do the number 1 tedious work in Ghana. For God sake this is Ghana not Zimbabwe. Madam Georgina Wood, 69 years was born on June 8, 1947 which means she attains the ripe old age of wisdom -70 in June 2017, hence her hint of exiting the position of the fourth highest arm of government. It's therefore intriguing that Nana who is 72+years and currently has life threatening issues will want to at all cost become president of our youthful Ghana. I think Nana should find another job after failing to become president for over 20yrs. I will recommend he open an NGO to train people on how to organise demonstrations and how to engage in violent acts.. #RetireNana@72 #NoAbabas3 #UsainBoltVictory #JMTOASO
fuuuuuulish woman! Nana Addo is our choice, not yours. You are tooo stuppppiddd to even understand the brains in nana's head, U have sukkked a deaddd goattt's ***barred word*** so much that your brains have become dead. Obaaa Kwassshia!!!! ashawoooo !!!!
