The National Democratic Party (NDC) government says it has recognized the youthful population in Ghana, hence the need for policies and programmes that will nurture and develop their potential for national development.

The NDC Government in that regard has promised to continue investing in job creation for the youth, youth empowerment and sports development.

The NDC stated in its Election 2016 Manifesto made available to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

“This will create the environment for the youth to attain excellence in the pursuit of opportunities and would also enable the youth to excel in local and international sporting competitions”, it stated.

It further outlined some achievements such as the establishment of the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) for over 100 youth start ups in one year; Provided legal backing - Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) for the Youth Employment Agency Initiative, which has led to the provision of support, employing about 100,000 youth under its modules.

The NDC has also created 21,045 jobs under the Rural Enterprise Project; Created 21,802 jobs under the Opportunities Industrialisation Centres (OIC), National Vocational Training Institute as well as the dreation of over 9,000 jobs under the Cocoa seedlings production project among others.

The publication of the manifesto is captured under the “GNA Tracks Election 2016 Project”, being funded by GOIL, the foremost indigenous oil marketing company and the CIMG 2015 Petroleum Company of the year.

The project seeks to sensitize the electorate on the various issues raised by political parties, the elections management body and other governance institutions.

It aims at ensuring gender and social inclusion in national politics and to provide voice for the youth, vulnerable groups, opinion leaders and the broader spectrum of the society, and to contribute to the achievement of peaceful polls.

Another objective of the project is to create a platform to dissect the manifestoes of all political parties and provide in-depth analysis of each thematic area to the electorate to enable them to make an informed judgment.
