Former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi has said reviving VALCO now to begin full production of aluminium in the country will not be the best option for the country.
Prof Ahwoi made the observation in Accra today at a breakfast meeting with Professionals organised by the Chief of Staff and his campaign team.
Prof Kwamena Ahwoi explained that VALCO imports bauxite for the production of aluminium thereby making the cost of production high.
He said the best option for the country is to first get major investors to exploit the bauxite resources in the country to feed VALCO to produce aluminium at a
comparatively lower cost.
Answering a question from a participant on the need to properly resource the Ghana Library Authority to function efficiently, Prof Ahwoi advocated decentralisation of Library services to enable the District Assemblies manage the libraries by resourcing them to be more efficient.
The Chief of Staff Mr Julius Debrah said VALCO is making efforts to produce power for its operation in partnership with an Independent Power Producer.

This Ahwoi guy has been with Rawlings from the PNDC time and now NDC. They have st.o.l.e.n our money all these whiles. They have no ideas left in them to make this country better. Retire and go and enjoy your share of the looot... Rawlings might be regretting working with characters like this during the revolution days where he was not given correct advice...
This man has been in government day one Rawlings took power, first he was the head of citizens vetting committee confiscating people's assets and also been minister in many portfolios. All these years Ghana has bauxite in abundance at Kyebi mountains you and your criminal brothers and the (P)NDC government did not do anything about it.Mills gov't you were adviser,Mahama gov't also your are an adviser. Infact you are professor who is walking encyclopedia with ***barred word*** knowledge.Shame on you and come again.
What is this man's locus in the scheme of things currently? Is he a presidential or a ministerial advisor? Is he an indusrial expert to be talking the way he is talking? What is wrong with NDC? Is he not aware that imported raw materials are even cheaper than the ones produced here. I can bet my last Cedi that the Bauxite which will be produced here will be expensive than the imported ones because that so-called investor would have to contend with huge electricity cost and an unstable cedi. Is he not living in Ghana?
YOU SEE THEIR SLAVE MENTALITY. A SO-CALLED PROFESSOR AND HE BELIEVES THAT EVERYTHING IN GHANA CAN ONLY BE SUCCESSFUL IF ONLY WE BRING IN "MAJOR INVESTORS"-ANOTHER WORD FOR FOREIGN EXPLOITERS. WHEN SUCH A PERSON IS ONE OF THE PRESIDENT'S ADVISORS, YOU WON'T HAVE TO THINK FAR TO KNOW WHY WE ARE IN SUCH A MESS-PERPETUAL SERVITUDE TO OUR EXPLOITERS!!!!!!!!!
Listen to one of the GREEDY BASTARDS!
These are the enemies the Bible talk's about in Luke 19:27 they do evil things and come back to beg, no amount of words can stop God from allowing the change to come for voice of the people is the voice God, let our prayer says what the Bible say's in Luke 19:27 Spiritually bring these enemies before God and slay them for their wicked plans. Mr Prez your mistakes sound like a deliberate once to punish the electorates by increase and invade more taxes so now you have clearly expose how you are that indeed you can not take any decision you are ruing the nation just like the survive of the fitters who can survive your hardship can live, Mr Prez the voices of the people is the voices of God, if I understood the Constitution clearly it didn't say you only have four years that means if you do not win the 2016 election you another chance to contest other elections so stop forcing for the seat which is not yours. Ghana need peaces so be it. God bless Ghana A Change is coming!!!
It will never be the best option now. Any money that will be put to the productive sector to create employment will never be the best option for NDC. But when it comes to bringing Dubai to Ghana, it will be the best option.
i sincerely think that kwamena ahwoi does not really understand the operations of valco else he would not make this statement. Valco is a very viable company so lets revive it now
