Government has vowed to collect every penny that was wrongly paid to anybody, including businessman, Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
It will also ensure that the state 'purse' is saved to ensure judicious spending and from further borrowing.
The Minister of Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, said this in Accra yesterday, when his ministry took its turn at the Meet-the-Press series.
Flanked by his deputies, Ato Sarpong and Felix Ofosu Kwakye, as well as Presidential Staffer, James Agyenim-Boateng and George Loh, Member of parliament for North Dayi and member often Government communications Team, the Minister said government was determined "to collect a dime wrongfully paid."
He described as unfortunate, the misinterpretation, and twists associated with the Attorney Generals quest to collect the money from Mr. Woyome.
Explaining that "the 51 million was not paid under the guise of President Mahama," he said it was time people appreciated efforts being made by the government to ensure that the money was refunded to the state.
Dr. Boamah said government had also ensured that those implicated in corruption-related cases were investigated, and some put before court to serve as deterrent to others.
He commended the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, for saving the country colossal amounts of money which would either have gone into the drain, or as cost that could had gone against the stated.
He urged journalists to delve more into issues that would better the lives of the people rather than on Woyome's case.

So Wayome's money is not important, do you know the number of hospitals, etc it would have built and saved lives, This explains government attitude in retrieving those monies
I COUNTED YOU TO BE ONE OF THE FEW WISE GUYS IN THE CURRENT NDC ADMINISTRATION BUT YOU HAVE PROVEN TO BE ONE OF THE F00OLS INSTEAD. KOOGYIMII !! HEAR YOURSELF. YOUR CHEEKS LIKE A FAT G.A.Y.
Listen Omane Boamah please dont insult the intelligence of Ghanaians GIVE US A BREAK YOU CORRUPT LOOT AND SHARE BASTARD WE have had enough of you and your cronies
Pls npp and other political parties, open your eyes wide in the coming election and uproot this incompetent and waste govt who will always disjust us with unhealthy talks
Short memory minister. No wander it was your president who said that. Have you forgotten it has already been invested?
It's sad listening to the Minister such gross incompetency. You have all the power yet you fail to act and assemble journalists to listen to your fabrications. Sooo.... sad!
IF HE HAD PRACTISED, I SWEAR, OMANE BOAMAH'S PRESCRIPTIONS WOULD HAVE KILLED MANY IN HIS PROFESSION. MOST OF HIS STATEMENTS LACK SIMPLE LOGIC. HE NEEDS TO DO SELF INTROSPECTION
We shouldn't talk about retrieving our stolen money? Government charge us huge taxes and we expect our monies to be used to better our lives not that of government officials and party financers. U are a minister of state, learn to talk like someone who has the interest of the country at heart. Reasoning before u talk is free. Learn to make good use of it
That was insulting on the part of the minister who draws his salary from the public purse to say that. This shows how reckless the NDC and his followers are. Lets vote for those who will collect the monies paid wrongly for the state.
This chap does not get it. The money woyome has "stolen" has made people poorer indirectly. it has denied people access to good drinking water, access to good education. He does not get it. This is a person who has to urinate over an electric fence to get it.
