Customers of the DKM Micro Finance Company are giving their unflinching support to the New Patriotic Party in the 2016 elections.
Speaking to Onua Business News, the spokesperson for the affected customers of a ponzi scheme operated by DKM Microfinance Company, Maxwell Mahama says the group with membership of 63,000 will be voting for the NPP and its presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the upcoming December 7th elections.
The decision follows promised by Nana Akufo-Addo to investigate the issues leading to the collapse of the company and also ensure that depositors get their monies back and in full. He said this when the Brong Ahafo Region as part of his campaign tour.
The aggrieved customers most of whom are in the Brong Ahafo Region says even though other political parties including the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) have assured them of getting their deposits back if voted into power, they believe that the NPP stand a better chance of winning the 2016 elections, hence their support for the party.
Maxwell Mahama further added that, the inability of government to refund their monies to them in full, even after the numerous promises, is an indication that they are only paying them lip service to their plight. The monies given to them so far by a liquidator is woefully inadequate, they complained.
The Bank of Ghana in 2015 halted the operations of DKM and other microfinance companies for contravening the microfinance regulations of the central bank.
The company as of the time had over 90, 000 customers with GH 77 million in deposits. President John Mahama ordered the freezing of accounts of the owners as well as the auction of properties to pay the debts owed the customers.
The Registrar-General’s Department under the Ministry of Justice has been engaged by the BoG to handle the liquidation processes of DKM. However, only a handful of the customers have received part payments of their investments.

At times I wonder how some people really think and believe so much in politicians. Ask your self where is Nana going to get the money to pay you? why wont he pay the customers before the vote for him?. Do you think that the money is just lying there for him to come and start paying the aggrieved customers? Is it that you don't know that the money was shared among some of the staff and also used in money laundering and cannot be traced? Let me tell you point blank that Nana can never pay you your money. what he can only do is to initiate investigations and the matter will die slowly. Ask the liquidators and know the true picture of the issue. I rest my case.
i will vote for Nana Addo and get my money. that is more important to me than anything. Afterall what do i gain if Mahama wins?
Would the NPP pay for victims of the scam which which happened in the Eastern Region where a sitting MP of the NPP has refused to pay customers of his bank? Who money and what was the lost cash used for?
