Three men were assaulted by some voters around 1pm at the South Suntreso SDA Polling station within the Nhyiaeso constituency in Kumasi on suspicion they were ballot box snatchers.

They were later handed over to the police.

The three, who had gone to the polling station, according to the police were “misconstrued” as ballot box snatchers and that when they saw the mob approaching they took to their heels.

They were however apprehended and after some beatings, they were handed over to the police.

The Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusif Mohammed Tanko confirmed the incident to Graphic Online and said the men were at the police station. He said it was not true that the men had attempted to snatch a ballot box, rather he said they were no where close to the ballot box.

Early on at South Suntreso, voters at one of the polling stations at the SDA school complained about standing in the sun without a shade. They appealed to the EC to ensure that in future canopies are provided for them.
