Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor believes the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) fanciful campaign promises won them the just ended general elections.
Speaking on Joy FM Saturday, the MP-elect for Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency insisted that the NPP’s luscious promises gave voters a decision to make, therefore, improving their fortunes at the polls.
“NPP made mouthwatering promises and gave voters a huge decision to make. They promised to reduce taxes, create jobs for the youth and build factories in all the districts”.
“They also promised to construct dams in all the villages across the country and that influenced people so much, because they were in opposition and they had that luxury to make promises whether they are feasible or not,” the deputy minister explained.
Nana Akufo-Addo was declared president-elect by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei on Friday, after polling 53.85% of the total valid votes cast to beat President John Mahama who managed just 44.85% of total valid votes cast.
Mr Jinapor, however, said the party would return to basics and come back stronger in 2020.
