Veteran journalist Kweku Baako has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to present outgoing president, John Mahama as its presidential candidate in the 2020 general elections.
According to him, President Mahama stands the best chance of securing victory for the party in 2020, stressing “he is currently the most popular figure” in the NDC.
“John is very young and I think he will be the NDC’s surest bet in 2020. If he decides to enter the fray, there wouldn’t be anyone to stop him. “Seriously, he will make huge impact if he decides to contest again so the NDC should consider that,” Kwaku Baako said.
The editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper further commended President Mahama for graciously accepting what he termed as a “painful defeat’.
“Both candidates exhibited great sense of maturity before and after the results were officially announced. We were all proud to see that,” Mr Baako added.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 72, was on Friday declared Ghana’s 5th President of the Fourth Republic after an impressive performance in the 2016 presidential poll.
He recorded 53.85% of the total valid votes cast as against 44.40 by President Mahama.

Mahama will be missed in less than 2yrs into Nana administration, those with sense know that despite his shortcomings,Mahama was still the best for Ghana, now the country is about to be rolled back in the name of financing consumption,People should realize that the Kufuor era George ***barred word*** and Obasanjo father christmas are gone forever
Nana is 72 years old. Why is it that only old men are the ones who rule Africa ? It is time to allow young and vibrant men and women to be in charge of affairs of Africa. The old men can retire.
the party is not for jj, jj is finish
mr uk have you forgotten so soon k4 gov the most corroupt gov ever in the histry of our dear nation if you hate mahama personally as a notherna fine is up to you but corrouption then dont go there.
kwaku baako shout your mouth judas you wont nana to win why turning around for mahama to say what JUDAS
Another Fante foooooooooooooooooooooooooool.
THERE IS SOMETHING TERRIBLY WRONG WITH KWAKU BAAKO, EITHER HE HAS TAKEN SOME MONIES FROM MAHAMA AND IT HAS MADE HIM LOOSE HS MIND OR HE IS A MAHAMA SYCOPHANT, , WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME KWAKU BAAKO CRITICISE MAHAMA, BAAKO HAVE LOST RESPECT IN GHANA POLITICS, FROM GHANA PEOPLE
I think mr Kweku Baako said that in jest. If you look at the kind of corruption that has gone on under president Mahama's administration, there will be no way that Ghanaians will vote for him after four years of Nana Addo's administration where he (Nana Addo) has been able to fight corruption and created jobs. It won't happen. You see, president Mahama had a very fine opportunity but he allowed babies with sharp teeth to ruin that opportunity. Nothing has started yet. No revelations have been made by way audit to know the extent to which the country's finances has been mismanaged. If too many damning things emerge under president Mahama's administration, will it be easy to present him as a presidential candidate in 2020? Think about it.
Kwaku, oyi, oyi oyi nkoaa derrr, you got it wrong. Mahama has nothing to offer Ghanaians. The NDC will not dare bring him anymore, he is history. He was a leader who only listened to the people who praised him like Asiedu Nketia and Omane-Boamah and closed his ears to the teeming Ghanaians who cried to sleep each night in Dumsor.
@armah ndc is not jj personal properity is a union so get it direct jj time has pass he should stay home the party is for ndc not for jj
