The leadership of the New Patriotic Party has condemned alleged acts of violence and vandalism being perpetrated allegedly against some political opponents of the NPP in the aftermath of the announcements of the results of the 2016 election.
In a statement signed by the acting General Secretary of the party, John Boadu, he said "We condemn in no uncertain terms these distasteful occurrences, if true, and wish to state that NPP will not condone or sanction such actions."
Earlier, President John Dramani Mahama had directed the security agencies to deploy across the country and arrest any person caught vandalising government property or attacking innocent people.
A statement signed by the Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, said the directive followed attacks on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and government installations by some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
President Mahama, according to the statement, was disappointed in the NPP leadership for failing to bring their supporters to order.

NPP CONDEMS POST-ELECTION ATTACKS, URGES SUPPORTERS TO REMAIN CALM
The attention of the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been drawn to reports of alleged acts of violence and vandalism being perpetrated allegedly against some political opponents of the NPP in the aftermath of the announcements of the results of the 2016 election.
We condemn in no uncertain terms these distasteful occurrences, if true, and wish to state that NPP will not condone or sanction such actions.
We urge the Ghana Police Service to enforce the laws of the land, and bring to book any person, irrespective of their political affiliations, found to be perpetrating acts of violence against any person.
Whilst the occasion of the NPP’s victory has understandably led to widespread jubilation amongst party supporters, sympathisers, and, indeed, members of the general public, we appeal to our supporters and everybody else to be guided by the statement made by the President-Elect of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his acceptance speech on 9th December, where he entreated supporters “to respect the peace and the property and lives of everybody, especially those of our political opponents.
“We are the party of the rule of law, and we should act accordingly, with magnanimity in our moment of victory.”
All of us have a responsibility to ensure that the dignified, peaceful exercise of their sovereign power that the Ghanaian people manifested on 7th December, which has enhanced significantly the image of our country, be protected in this period of transition from one government to another.
God bless our homeland Ghana.
……signed……
John Boadu
General Secretary (Ag)

Police must be up and doing they should arrest all of them
In one of Hon. Ken Agyapong's contributions to Boiling Point program on Oman FM,prior to the elections, he said, one of NDC's plans to reduce NPP's votes in Ashanti and Eastern Regions is to bribe the election officials at the polling stations, to smuggle thumbprinted ballot papers into the ballot boxes to create an overvote. This is the reason for the allegation.
I personaly condemn any act of violence in any part of the country. It is totally unacceptable. But l think some npp supporters are doing this in retaliation to what they went through during mahama regime. Some npp members were beaten or molested but the police did't arrest anybody and these people think that they were fatherless and now they have father. I advise we put away the past behind and move together as one nation. God bless you. God bless Ghana
Ndur or whatever your name and tribe is central might be a poor region but the people are enlightened. After the next four years they will just access Nana Addo government and see if they have to vote for him. Stop the insults. Nana Addo won at some of the Ga dominated constituencies. What about the northern region? Check the results at the no go area for the npp in the northern sector in the western region?
it hurts you, your party lost....lick your wounds,
Don't give any credit to owusu bempah, he's just a charlatan. Even a day old baby could prophesy that Mahama was losing. The wind of change was everywhere and that was what the bleached skinned prophet felt and capitalize on to do those prophecies. If he knew anything, he could have at least give the exact percentage nana could obtain. Most Ghanaians also said nana would win and he won. Does that make them prophets too. The guy only needed a diplomatic passport hence his bogus prophecies and lies.
These fuulls don't even realize that if they do this nun sense the military can take over sooner or later. How can win an election and go on hooliganism and vandalism. This clearly shows that if they didn't not win the elections they would turn the country into war. How barbaric. This is why people always attribute violence to nana addo. It's just unfathomable that the loser is not aggrieved but the winner is the one who is aggrieved for winning an election. Can you imagine this. The government properties you coming to use for the tasks ahead you are destroying now, for different cash to be used to build or purchase new ones to cause financial loss to the state. Your so called president elect has not even been inaugurated and you are behaving this way. I pray ndc supporters would not retaliate. Anyway, thanks for this prompt condemnation.
Davidson, no problem but still Akufo Addo prepare for insults like the way you did. I am waiting for my $1 million you promise for K.E.E.A, my factory, my dam in my village, my free healthcare, free school fees, free uniform, free wife, everything free you promise if not I will insult until you get out of power. UP/NPP Asante Akyem foooo0000l
@NDUR and Dennis, The people of Ghana are not ***barred word*** to believe that all the promises Nana made can be fulfilled before they voted for him. They voted for him because of the gargantuan corruption, unprecedented mismanagement, the arrogance and the insults of the babies with sharp teeth. If Nana Addo can deal with his appointee who involves himself or herself in any form of corruption then your party will be in political wilderness. Can you guys stop being a sour looser.
