Volta Regional Deputy Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbandi has revealed that his party simply failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
“We have not been able to do all that Ghanaians expect; they have so many expectations for us so they believed in our government and they felt that we could do everything”, he revealed.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning, Mustapha Gbandi also revealed that the NDC campaign team and the party executives did not work hard enough for President Mahama during the campaign era.
“Look, the President campaigned throughout this country himself; it is not supposed to be so. If we had truly worked on the grounds, president does not need to move throughout this country to campaign himself. The man was so tired and the last minute we had our campaign in Volta Region, I cried within myself because the president was overworking”, he revealed.
He however confessed that a lot of things went wrong and thus, a self-introspection must be done.
He also believed the use of celebrity endorsement did not help President Mahama’s campaign.
“We are now going to sit down so that the things that we took for granted, the leaders and elders of the party will look into it. It is good to have elders in the party. I particularly didn’t like the idea of using celebrities to campaign for us”, he emphasized.
“We will go back to our elders, speak with them and pick wisdom from them and apply and we know that in 2020, we are back in power because we cannot take Ghanaians for granted”, he stressed.
He therefore urged all NDC supporters to maintain the level of tolerance they have given to the NPP supporters.
“We plead with them to know that we are one people and we have loved ourselves and so we shouldn’t allow mere party coloration to divide us. Ghana needs development and Nana Addo is the president today and it is our prayers that he will be able to implement what he has for Ghanaians”
“We will hold NPP responsible in the manner they have started behaving themselves after winning the elections but all other political parties will give their unflinching support to Nana Addo’s administration”, he stated.

these ndc guys will not be sober in defeat. it is not an issue of u not working hard in terms of campaigning the president really campaigned he has all the state resources at his disposal but u see when people can get jobs, pay high electricity, collapsing social interventions instituted by the previous admin i tell u trust Ghanaian to overthrow yr Ndc and above all demonstrated gross incompetence laced with insults by the babies with sharp teeth.stay in opposition for now until u bring in decent people to work
hurt as i am about the president's defeat, i cannot disagree with those who posit the insolence as the part of the cause. i live in tema, i go jogging around the ongoing port expansion project and it hurts me deeply that this man could not see it come to completion as he visioned it. you could say same about the myriad of projects on-going around the country which will all come to a halt on jan 7. the truth is, ghana's money will be spent anyway. this guy tried to show something for it and didn't let him. hurts me still.

I know NDC is going through the four process of grieving when unfortunate things happened. But, "Taking Things For Granted" Isn't one of them. NDC failed both parliamentary and presidential election because of insolence, opulence, corruption, incompetence and tribalism. NDC failed the people of Ghana royally and didn't give a hoot about it. In your delusions you thought you will rule Ghana forever. Now you better prepare yourself going to prison for a long long time.
Ghanaians will not forget about the incompetence of NDC anytime soon.
