Minority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has hinted of plans to bow out from leadership in the next parliament in January.
Though many believe he remains the NPP's best option for majority leader, the Suame MP believes it is time for him to take a backseat because he is 'really tired'.
Mr Kyei Mensah Bonsu in an interview with GHOne said .'...The majority leader will become the leader of government business so the president may have to have some trust in that person. The presidential candidate will have some say [behind the curtain] on who will become leader but being candid, I'm really tired from being in leadership in the party[and parliament] for 16 years'.
He added that he currently finds himself in a difficult situation because though he wants to take a step back, people continue to plead with him to stay on due to the vacuum his absence from leadership is likely to create.

i really wonder how you manage to hold these political positions for so many years. you should have bowed out when your colleagues even in ndc were helping you to win the primaries
Minority leader, if you are tired please retire and resign from Parliament for a fresh blood to take over. I think a younger one like RICHARD BOADI SOADWA has also worked very hard for the NPP in Suame and deserves to take over from you now. He is a true grassroot guy, eloquent, learned, and would soon graduate as a DR in Occupational Health and Safety would have a lot to contribute to Ghana's Democratic governance. Please come home and establish a consulancy firm for the young ones to tap your experience
This man want to chopp minister. NPP everyone wants chop minister too bad.
My man wan chop minister small.
This man, HON OSEI KYEI MENSAH BONSU in my view is the finest M P since the inception of Ghana,s fourth republican constitution, i wish he stays on as the majority leader.if there is any MP who is adding value to parliamentary business its certainly this gem of an M P,HON O.K.M.B.
So why don't you make him speaker.
He wants to run away from been elected to that position in order to get contracts so that he ll the like on honorable kennedy agyapong
In fact u have indeed serve your party and the nation at large. U deserve the right to take a backseat but if the president elect and the now majority repost their trust in u, I don't think you will disappoint them.
You know you are tired and you fought fiercely during the primaries, so what was that for? perhaps to have a job but not to serve.
