Deputy minister of communications, Hon. Felix Ofosu Kwakye has described disputations over President Mahama’s last round of activities as “naked politicking”.
The outgoing Minister, who spoke to pressmen yesterday in Accra, said the basis for such concerns lacked fair, sound and objective analysis.
He opined that the contretemps over government’s business were the actions of some people who have chosen to View the president’s activities with political lenses.
According to Mr. Ofosu Kwakye, the same attitudes were portrayed by opposition forces against the president’s appointment of Supreme Court Justices as well the EC boss sometime back.
“So – what you see is a partisan trend, not an objective, fair, candid analysis of the situation”, he said.
Adding, “It appears to me that there’re some people who simply do not respect the decisions and mandate of president Mahama, and that to me is at the heart of this kind of politicking”.
Presidents must function until end of tenure
The minister expressed that the president was being unnecessarily challenged over basic routine functions that other presidents before him in the past, performed.
“It cannot be said that some presidents before or after him (John Mahama) can exercise their mandates up until the end of their tenure, but president Mahama must be denied same. It is wrong and disrespectful of Ghana’s constitution and cannot be accepted in the normal course of running this nation”, he asserted.
The Minister also remarked that the claims being made were equally influenced by ignorance on the parts of some party fanatics who think that once their party wins an election, the functions of the outgoing government must immediately cease.
Mahama still president
He stressed that Mr. John Mahama remained president of the republic of Ghana and as such was allowed by the constitution to carry on with government business until January 7 when he shall hand over to Nana Akuffo-Addo.
Mr. Ofosu Kwakye maintained that the processes leading to the review of the national service allowance and wages of public sector workers, begun months before the elections and therefore could not be described as a “last-minute” gambit.
Appointments and increment won’t cripple new gov’t
“In any case, how does the appointment of an NCCE boss or the review of allowances and wages inhibit or stop a new government from functioning?” he averred.
He said the NDC government in like manner inherited certain appointments and contracts from former president John Kuffuor, and lived with it for 8 years, thus was not a strange thing.
The minister argued that if NPP claimed they would restore the allowances of trainee teachers and nurses running into hundreds of millions of cedis, they must not be consternated by the slight increment of the recent salaries and allowances.
Mr Kwakye who said the cost implication of the increment in the National Service allowances was Ghc14 million per year, according to him, was not grave to hamper the functioning of the incoming government.

Don't disturb our ears!
Folks it is precisely because of characters like this f001 that Mahama will soon be an ex-president.Only a few months ago, people were saying that Nana Addo will die before end of June and the young tall charismatic president will rule for ever. Now the 72 year old is seen full of grit going around the country whiles the young Usain Bolt appears jaded and seem to have lost a lot of weight. The man says he wants to go on a thank you tour, to thank the people who have planted their boots firmly on his backside. Thy way not mine oh Lord. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
He lost the elections and should not be allowed to put impediments on the incoming administration. If what you are saying makes sense, then tell him to go and take 1 billion loan with 100% interest payable in a year. Instead of the party regrouping and strategizing on what went wrong in the elections you are supporting what they are doing. Do you think Ghanaians don't read and think.
The man John Mahama is a th1ef simple. He stole the presidency of Ghana by force. He planned with others to murder or get ride of the seating president at the time Atta Mills and then rigged the 2012 elections in the favor to the NDC against the majority will of the people of Ghana. He did not stop there, he and his family and the top brass NDC continued to rob Ghana of large sums of money and resources and borrowed loans with high interest rates that future generations will need to pay for over priced infrastructure developments. How can anyone one with an IQ over 100 respect a man like that. If the constitution did not recognize him as president he should be locked up and the keys thrown away forever. GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD TROUBLE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM GONE. He should take all his billboards with is image on them away with him. He is such an insecure man too. #Nana Aba! #Malafaka
Felix, you are history now. I do not think you will be selected again to be one of the new FACES for the NDC since your utterances and behavours did not help your party. Shout up, and go look for work to do.
If people like you unexperienced no vision and no future were advising President Mahama why wont Ghana suffer. I tell you what "Respect is earned and not commanded. Shame on you. NDC will stay in opposition for far too long I bet you; unless you people ask for forgiveness for what you did to Prof. Mills. Dont you know walls have ears? A WORD TO THE WISE IS ENOUGH
The f**king boy doesn't seem to learn. Where has he crawled out from after their unprecedented defeat? Until ndc chase out these mahama boys, girls, sycophants and cronies out of their party, the end of their party is in sight. They shall be in opposition for a very long time. We need serious minds to handle important and pertinent issues in the country and not children with no training, no brains and no experience to run our country into shambles. Fawasem sor hor.
Go to school and learn how to speak to people, you are one of the reasons NDC lost the elections and you are still talking. Go and look for job ok
BETTER GO SEARCH FOR YOUR DAD OH. HMMMMM
EI, THIS ***barred word*** HAS SURFACED AGAIN?
