President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says immediate former President, John Dramani Mahama’s contribution to the country's democracy will forever be cherished.
He lauded his predecessor’s honorable act of conceding defeat as a sitting president to make way for him to serve, saying it will go down in Ghana's democratic history as a landmark event.
Nana Addo was speaking at an event to mark his investiture as 5th President and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as Vice President of the 4th Republic of Ghana.
He also paid glowing tribute to the country's former leaders and living ex-Presidents: Jerry John Rawlings, John Kufuor and John Mahama and prayed for the soul of late President John Evans Atta Mills

It was a pleasant sight to behold when everyone comes to support an incoming president and calls on all Ghanaians to have a sense of patriotism and call to duty to build the nation but if this same attitude had been given to the outgoing administration and previous governments,i think the nation would far advanced by now. All those bad precedence set in the past by the current government by boycotting public evens that projects the unity of the country should not be repeated by the outgone government. That is the only way we will grow to the point we want as a nation in the shortest possible time.
Nana ur happy do you remember 2008 and 2012. where were you, you wait time will tell,Mahama will forever be cherished but you made his government hard for him .time will tell you wont fine it easy as well
So you saw how beautiful it was when everyone attended the ceremony,Lesson for you Mr. President......................
he has done his best... but we Ghanaians think its not enougth
President Nana Akufo-Addo Dankwa Akufo's speech to the nation and to the rest of the world calls attention to the duty and responsibility of nation building, and to the need for the Nation State of Ghana to grow united, emphasizing the exploitation and harnessing of the individual talent to be geared towards growth of the economy. the public sector is not the venue for the individual to grow wealth and riches at the expense of the Nation State; it is in the private sector that the individual seeks wealth and riches by what work he honestly does. The point is well taken. Then the 5th Presidential Speech of the 7th Parliament attempts to define a definition for the Ghanaian citizen. This President will surely not look on as the unscrupulous elements made to bastardize the economy. Ghana must work hard to create a civilization that should liberate the Ghanaian from the Third World and underdevelopment stigma that currently tags him/her wherever he goes.
