The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked Ghanaians to hold President Nana Akufo-Addo responsible for any mayhem which may arise as a result of the attacks on their members.
According to the party, the current President has failed to stop members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who have allegedly been attacking their members without any provocation.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said the President was sitting by as alleged members of the NPP instigated disturbances.
“When you are the Commander in Chief and you allow gangsters to be humiliating state security officers, where are we going to?” Mr. Asiedu Nketia questioned.
“… I am not surprised at all because throughout the campaign I kept warning that we all know the best gauge of anybody’s conduct in future is his conduct in the past and we know the conduct of the various presidential candidates, including Nana Addo, and his record of encouraging conduct.”
The NDC General Secretary stressed that ensuring order and peace is a collaborative effort but he added that “the key person who should lead the peacekeeping game is the person who has power.”
Mr. Asiedu Nketia also noted that the NDC members had a right to defend themselves and warned that the leadership of the party could not restrain its members forever.
“We are operating a democracy and it is the fundamental right of every Ghanaian to defend himself and I am sure the NPP and Nana Addo know this… We will keep on holding our people in check. We will still, at the national level, try to still ask people to endure the pain but we are telling you is that there will be a point where the followers will defy the leadership if the problem is not solved.”
The leadership of the NPP has however already condemned reported attacks on members of the NDC perpetrated by some of its supporters.
This followed a directive from former President John Mahama to the security agencies to arrest supporters of the NPP who vandalize government properties or attack supporters of the NDC.

It is never true that the NPP are misbehaving. I strongly believe that the NDC have been destroying government property to portray to the world that NPP are rather violent. I speak as a servant of the Most High that any purported plan of the accuser(NDC)to mar the peace of Ghana is cancelled in Jesus' name.Any demonic plan of the enemy is terminated in Jesus' name. I pray to God daily that may God set a strong standard against the NDC to make them remain in perpetual opposition.
Mr. Nketia bear in mind that you are no more in government so be careful else don't blame anybody when the law start to take you on.
Mr Dr Asiedu Nketia, who cannot ever gauge your future deeds by what acts you already staged in the past? We shall not enumerate your past deeds pitting them into your very face. Your body language tells it all. It only remains to be seen if you can ever...repeat ever, pull through any nefarious deeds of yours and ever manage to run away with them. Give us a break, Mosquito man.
Animaal,go away
IF ASIEDU NKETIAH THINKS HE IS MAN ENOUGH HE SHOULD GO AND FACE THE FOUNDER OF HIS PARTY WHO CONCURED THAT HIS PARTY EXECUTIVES ARE FULL OF THI-EV-ES INCLUDING ASIEDU NKETIAH WITH HIS $5 PER BLOCK HE SUPPLIED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BUI DAM.THEY ARE PREPARING THE GROUNDS TO SAY THEY ARE BEEN WITCH HUNTED IF THEY ARE JAILED FOR THEIR MASSIVE CORRUPT ACTIVITIES.T-H-IEV-ES
NDC LEADERS ALWAYS INCITE VIOLENCE. WE HAVE SEEN THAT IN RECENT TIMES FROM KOFI PORTUPHY, KOKU ANYIDOHO, ANITA DESOSOU, ASIEDU NKETIA AND SOME OTHERS. GHANA ELECTION WAS ALWAYS ASSOCIATED WITH VIOLENCE. LUCKY FOR US WE DID NOT SEE MUCH OF THAT IN THIS ELECTION WHEN NDC DECIDED UNDER MAHAMA TO CHANGE THEIR METHODS. NOW WITH MAHAMA OUSTED, THE WOLVES HAVE TAKEN OVER THE PARTY PREACHING VIOLENCE. IT IS NOT GOOD IN THE MANNER BY WHICH SOME NPP PARTY SUPPORTERS WANT TO TAKE OVER CERTAIN FACILITIES IN THE NATION. ACTUALLY THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE WE HAVE MAINTAIN IN THE LOCAL POLITICS SYSTEMS WHICH ARE NOT HELPFUL. WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO CHANGE THAT SYSTEM AND NOT PROMOTING VIOIOLENCE.
but come to think of this, it is only the executive of the ndc that are seeing such things. We Ghanaians are leaving in peace and happy people, the ndc should give us a break. Nana PLEASE CONCENTRATE AND SERVE your people.
