Attorney General and Minister of Justice nominee Gloria Akuffo has said she will take a second look at the controversial GHS51million paid to businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome and do what is best for the country by recovering the money for the state.
The Supreme Court has ordered Mr Woyome to refund GHS51.2 million to the state.
According to the court, Mr Woyome got the money out of an invalid contract between the state and Waterville Holdings Limited in 2006 for the construction of stadia for CAN 2008.
However, the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government failed to retrieve the amount from the businessman before leaving office.
Gloria Akuffo told the Appointments Committee when she appeared before it on Saturday January 21 that if given the nod to be Attorney General, she would do her best to recover the money for the state.
“As I understand it, judgment has been entered for the refund of the money. Efforts to recover the money have been inundated with many applications. My understanding is that the execution process has been soiled with all these processes.
I will go to office and look [but] that is why I said at the beginning that I cannot make a categorical undertaking that if you give me approval tomorrow, I can recover the money because this is a matter which is subject to litigation.
I can only say that when I get there I’ll study the file and see how quickly we can recover the money,” she stated.
“I will put my best foot forward and that when I get to that office I will look at the matter and do what is best in the circumstances.”

Gloria,Gloria,Gloria, how many times have l called you? Please if you can't take woyome ' s money, then don't take office cos am ready to put someone there who can take the money for us.
I think you are the ***barred word*** and donkey here because you are the one trying to point out a mistake which obviously is not the case. I do not think you really understand your first comment which you claimed your wife drew your attention to. You are just a looser trying to display your gross ignorance here. Are you trying to please your so called american wife? Do you think you are the only human from Ghana who went to America? Your posture here clearly tells me that you the type of Ghanaian men in America who try to please your so called white wife. I haven't seen any moron like you in my entire life. Try upgrade your life a little bit and stop bowing to your white wife. I can see you very bitter because all the things you said in your second comment testify to that. Don't let your wife make you a slave because the era of slavery is long gone.
@@ learn....Ghanaian Journalist - Massa do not be an educated illitereate with a worthless certificate ; I am only expressing the use of certain words as an exppression and interchange for the meaning of certain words which in our modern times have cropped up in the english laguage ; the word 'idiomatic' is a subjectic word and has no one meaning besides you really wish to understand the essence and power of the use languages as a tool to manipulate your thinking you may care to go and google 'Norm Chomsky' ; I am not the custodian of the English Language neither are you -DONKEY !!!!!; so stop your stupidy and don't be lazy I speak mine local language TWI and very proud of it ; the problem is fulls like you think the english language is the ultimate and therefore prefer to kow- tow and be slaves to that language 'ENGLISH' ; go to China ; Russia ; Germany; Arab counteries ; all speak their own language and are not bothered about the English language as fulls like you do; they use their own languages officially because to understand the world you live in and progress you need to think in your own language; The failure of Ghana today is that we do not value our language but rather fulls like you seem to do propaganda about the English language ; Massa; think in your own language and see how progressive you shall become !!!!!!
To give someone the nod is just an idiomatic expression meaning to permit someone to do something. At least verify the meaning of the expression before behaving as if you the custodian of the english language.
Massa; so you have a 'Yankey' lady as your wife and think this is a big deal!!!!!!!OMG ; what you should understand is that the English language can always be used as an interchange to interpretate many actions and deeds in society because even in England where the language originated words have changed over time; it is unlikely you will understand the words used in the Magna Carte of 1066; neither would you undestand the words used by shakespeare in his days as a play ; today the word 'NOD' is used in the paliament of England where the language originated besides you should undestand that we as Ghanaian learn the proper Queens English and some of the English in England are amazed at the quality of English spoken and written by Ghanaians ; the web is not a forum for learning the English language and therefore massa do not let your dear wife bulley you about the use of words ; the problem with our journalist in Ghana is the construction of real quality English language sentences and not the use of WORDS ; if somebody use the word DUMSOR; DOMSOR every body knows what it means because it is even used at the United Nations but the word is not English.
What is if giving the "nod" it's if given the "mandate". It's about time Ghanaian journalists learn how to write good English for their readers and people who have interest in learning about Ghana as a country. Fortunately this was brought to my attention by my wife who's American but reads almost everything about our country. She knew what it means but technically wrong and for that reason, it's says a whole lot about our journalists and their grammatical errors in an online news item they carry out for readers. Hope somebody reads this from the news website and address these issues.
Please be careful Woyome is crafty. He tried to bribe me when I was in office.
