Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. says there should be a reform in the composition of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kwesi Pratt expressed worry over some members of the Appointments Committee, wondering why Ministerial nominees are on the Committee.
According to him, this culture doesn't help the vetting process.
“The nominees are part of the Committee which is vetting them. I can’t understand it . . . I’ve thought about it but can’t understand it,” he said.
He called on the legislative body to review the Committee and ensure that any person who is appointed by the President as Minister-designate or Deputy Minister-designate either recuses him/herself or is not part of the Committee.
To him, maintaining the nominees on the Committee to vet other nominees is unprincipled, "we've done this from 1993 till date. Won't we change it . . . There ought to be some level of seriousness in the vetting process."
Mr. Pratt however commended the Parliamentary Appointments Committee, saying this year's vetting process is "superior to previous vettings".

Why are you saying it now. Where were you when they were vetting the dinning hall prefects and the other incompetent ministers in your ndc government. Give us a break.
Please uncle kwesi The nurses and doctors are still waiting for you. I can get you a lees affordable Ambulance that can take you to KBTH or KATH. Now you see Ghanaians don't take you serious.
Sometimes Kwesi Pratt's views are that of a ***barred word*** and a journalist in the last NDC era where he took all the cash he can get and became a spokeperson for Jon Mahama and the NDC but to me his point about this odd situation in which nominees are allowed on such appointment committee is complete patent FRAUD !!!!!!; parliament should review this position how can you as a nomiee vet your fellow nominee ; this FRAUD by the NPP should STOP because we all backed the the NPP and Nana Adddo to win the last elections but will not condone FRAUD by the NPP ; Nana Addo is to o BIG for such FRAUD to be condoned Parliament ; to me Kwesi RIGHT !!!!!!!!COME ON NPP JUST THINK ABOUT IT !!!!!!;
For the first time, I had the opportunity to watch the vetting proceedings live, and I was surprised to see some nominees as part of the vetting committee. Why should we make such an error?
since when did Kwasi Pratt realize this? and because the NDC is in opposition, suddenly the vetting committee is doing well. posterity is watching all of us!!!!
