Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba indirectly jabbed Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa during her vetting before the Parliamentary Appointments Commitee.
During her vetting on Monday, the North Tongu MP sought from the minister-designate she intends strategising to "sanitize" Ghana's media.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa asked the Minister-designate to outline before the Committee how she would ensure that the media is perhaps checked and not allowed to blow things out of proportion.
In reply, Madam Afisah-Djaba answered that she would ensure there will not be any "babies with sharp teeth" in the media fraternity.
"We shouldn't have babies with sharp teeth," she replied.
The nominee's reponse was however followed up by a question from the Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu, who asked her to either explain the meaning of her answer or rephrase it.
Explaining her response, Otiko Djaba stated emphatically that she meant "we must expunge the babies with sharp teeth" but the Chairman however impressed upon her to describe those babies with sharp teeth.
The Gender Minister-designate thereupon indicated that she would ensure the use of insults and intemperate language from the media is halted.

Well spoken Madam. Not only are you nice but also intelligent. F00OLISH people deserve F00OLISH answers. You will be a successful minister by all standards.
No wonder she has children but is not married. Who can marry such a woman with an acid tongue. I thought for the role she was given, she would tone down a little to get more advocates for the gender ministry. She must know that she is stepping in a post that has been occupied by very honourable women, both from NPP and NDC. That ministry under the outgoing minister was adjudged the best. That is a tall order for her, certainly not likely to be very successful in the hands of persons with extremely partisan inclinations. We have listened to other nominees and enjoyed their posture. Some of them did not pose like they have all the answers and pledged to work with the people to find answers. Nominees with such postures are likely to go far.
You see guys when Hon Ablakwa said "he will leave it to all well meaning Ghanaians to know the kind of gender minister they will have". This is an insult to Otiko Djaba the minister nominated so the responds that "we must expunge Babies with sharp teeth" and intemperate and insults from the media is very much appropriate.
you guys were enthused about Otiko's performance? really? No wonder Ghana is wallowing in mud. Poverty shall forever engulf us as a country.she doesn't even know and understand what policy is? could not even mention just one? ................. we have the men indeed
She reminds me of the late Hawa Yakubu - strong women. Much respect for Otiko.
you people should get serious please for just a moment
She is tough, firm and fair. These are the kind of people we need to be in charge of affairs. So moved by her boldness to stand by her decisions and couldn't be bullied to do anything contrary to the truth. The white men will hail such a character but the black will call her names. Ms Djaba you've got a boy friend here. lol. I will come and fetch water for you. Thumps up!!S
otiko jab to Ablakwa was as the resut of comment Ablakwa passed just after she answered a question ask by ablakwa "all well meaning Ghanaian will know kind of gender minister they have". so it was an insult to otiko so he jab him in same other,an eye for an eye
WOW! That was a nice jab. This lady is funny and she looks like an Auntie
we already know the fruits of the babies with sharp teeth. you are not arrogant, you are tough.
