Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba indirectly jabbed Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa during her vetting before the Parliamentary Appointments Commitee.
During her vetting on Monday, the North Tongu MP sought from the minister-designate she intends strategising to "sanitize" Ghana's media.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa asked the Minister-designate to outline before the Committee how she would ensure that the media is perhaps checked and not allowed to blow things out of proportion.
In reply, Madam Afisah-Djaba answered that she would ensure there will not be any "babies with sharp teeth" in the media fraternity.
"We shouldn't have babies with sharp teeth," she replied.
The nominee's reponse was however followed up by a question from the Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu, who asked her to either explain the meaning of her answer or rephrase it.
Explaining her response, Otiko Djaba stated emphatically that she meant "we must expunge the babies with sharp teeth" but the Chairman however impressed upon her to describe those babies with sharp teeth.
The Gender Minister-designate thereupon indicated that she would ensure the use of insults and intemperate language from the media is halted.

She is an arrogant bit@h. By their fruits ye shall know them.
Otiko Djaba, more jsbs please. Thank you.
if we are not careful, the reason for vetting our designated ministers will loose its essence due to the nature of questions and the high level of politics been employed . the minority sees it as an opportunity to prosecute people to score political points instead of finding competencies and gradually the designated ministers are also responding in the same manner, after all , they will be approved anyway. this is not good for the country.
Madam, You should have explained to them what that expression means and who the originator of that phrase is. Their very own Jerry John Rawlings coined that apt phrase to correctly describe the NDC youngsters who took to the media to rain insults on their opponents. Keep it up. You are tough, not arrogant!!
