With all the flourishing businesses and millions credited to Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, an orange seller managed to look him in the eyes and say “I pity you”.
About a week ago, Dr. Nduom reveals he met an orange seller when he made stopover on his way to Elmina. The woman who could easily indentify the founder and leader of the Progressive People’s Party just like millions of Ghanaians can, quickly moved over to him and passed the sad comment.
According to Dr. Nduom, when the woman drew closer to him she quipped “gentleman, you look pitiful to me”.
Dr. Nduom who found a lighter side to the story recounted on ATV’s ‘Ghana Great and Strong’ show that when he inquired from the orange seller why she pities him, she responded by saying that: “when I look at the way you are toiling and spending heavily on your campaign, I feel pity for you”.
The business magnate however didn’t depart the scene without leaving behind his mark. “What I did was to ask her the price of her oranges and she said GHS10. I gave her GHS10 and asked her to take her oranges away”.
Dr. Nduom shared this personal story as a prelude to his show on ATV’s ‘Ghana Great and Strong’ show.

HMMMM.THE ORANGE SELLER IS MORE PHILOSOPHICAL THAN WHAT NDUOM MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT.IF NDUOM CLAIMS HE IS A BUSINESS MAGNATE AND HAS OVER 65 BUSINESS IN THE WORLD WHY WASTE YOUR RESOURCES ANERGY AND TIME FOR AN AFRICAN POLITICS WHICH BY DEFINITION LIES TO HELP THE MASSES BUT IN EFFECT ONLY TO ENRICH THEMSELVES SO IF NDUOM REALLY HAS GHANAIANS AT HEART AND REALLY WANTS HELP US HE SHOULDN'T GO INTO POLITICS TO HELP BUT RATHER EXPAND HIS BUSINESS TO HELP MORE PEOPLE THAN THE POLITICIANS WILL DO.THEY ARE ALL HYPOCRITES AND THIEEEEEVEES.ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
I think Dr Nduom is good material for Ghana. Being president is not the only way to make your mark and serve your country. At least in the last election he saw his true vote tally. In the past half would have been added to the NDC vote tally.
If the woman spoke Fante then it was not meant as a negative comment. It meant, I sympathise with you when your good intentions and commitment to Ghana are not rewarded by the electorate.
Mediocrity is the key. People like this orange seller has no need to struggle to achieve a cause she believes in. She has accepted her fate and will not rise above an orange seller. This is reminiscent of our society at large. We find energetic graduates waiting for years to work at the Ministries. We have Dr,Dr so so and so, professors with all the theoretical knowledge, yet are stuck with their dreams. Dr Ndoum personifies the new Ghanaian dream, where anyone anywhere can aspire to the top. The question is 'whats your dream'. Pity? is a word for MEDIOCRE!
The lady using that word is not the negativity of it but rather the positive aspects of it cos she sees how the man has spend more on campaigns and others and yet got no where but still he will get more votes than NDC in 2020
THE ORANGE SELLER MAY BE RIHGT IN POSITIVE MANNER. IS INDEED A PITY FOR A MAN LIKE DR. NDUOM TO BE STRUGGLING TO BECOME PRESIDENT. HE IS AN OBVIOURS CHOICE AFTER NANA BUT IS HE GOING TO BE GIVEN THE OPORTUNITY?
pity as used by the orange seller is relative. pity has more than one meaning in this context
Quite the opposite, I do not pity you. Meyadawo. What you have done, others like Akukor Darko and Wereko Brobbey tried and they had to throw in the towel quickly. You have been consistent and yet your businesses are flourishing. You have secrets that other politicians should try and discover. Probably you are the best politician in Ghana if not Africa
