Director of Elections for the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu has disclosed that the Government of Ghana has issued a cheque of 90,000 dollars to Members of Parliament to purchase for themselves cars.
He made this shocking revelation on Peace FM's Kokrokoo in relation to the free Senior High School policy by the government.
Contrary to criticisms that there might be challenges with funding the free SHS policy, Nana Ofori Owusu told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the nation has lots of money to implement the President's vision.
He wondered how it would be difficult to fund the project when Parliamentarians are being given $90,000 each just to buy cars.
“Every time, we say we don’t have money. But they have given a cheque for $90,000 each to Parliamentarians, the 275 of them all that came recently, to go and buy 4WDs...Multiply the $90,000 by 275. We wake up and say there’s no money. It’s close to GHC 9.96 million . . . “We have money in the system. There is money . . . First, there’s the vision and then you find the money in the system.”
He called on the nation to support the vision by President Nana Akufo-Addo in order to revitalize the economy.
“The vision of the leader and where he wants us to go will help us to support him. We want to support our citizens because Ghana is one nation and for us all. So, if the vision is bold and the vision has clear path line to development, we will all do our best to ensure progress and development in the economy," he said.

Ignorance is bliss, sad, sad, sad, truly for the lack of knowledge my people perish. Where did this nincompoop get this information, he provides no evidence and yet som people whose elevators don't go all the way to the top are already jumping to conclusions and the Prez and his party are being insulted.
This man has to talk for Dr Nduom to pay him. If he doesn't talk he won't be paid. Is this the first time car loans are being given to MPs? Is it a loan or a gift?
Nana addo wake up ooo nana addo wake up ooo what is this non.sense I am hearing.our politicians are just u$eless breathing mammals....we dont know our priorities as a nation..instead of solving dumsor and focusing on agriculture and factories u are interested in buying cars....hell is waiting for you ....fffooooools
akuffo addo i a dog, and s.too.p.id
Why should government even have to give them money to purchase cars? Does the government give lecturers cars too? This practice is discriminatory under our current constitution and must be stopped. $90,000 is too much. If Nana sanctioned it then Ghana is in deep trouble!
Hey, I want to take this with a pinch of salt, but if it is established that this is true then, NPP government is worse than the NDC. Why am I saying this? All old parliamentarians were already given 50000 Ghana cedis to purchase vehicles, and those vehicles are in their custody now. Aside that, after every four years they are given ex gratia, so what sense does it make to keep given them huge sums of money for vehicles when they enjoy all these already. I will assume that even if this is true, the new entrants may be entitled for cars, but if all parliamentarians are given these monies, then nana Addo doesn't seem to be a good leader as he portrays himself.
