Minority Chief Whip, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak has expressed utter shock at the bribery allegation leveled against him by Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga.
According to him, Mahama Ayariga has been his "best friend" and so was alarmed when he heard that the carrier of the alleged bribery news was his own friend.
Hon. Muntaka appeared before the Joe Ghartey Committee to make a witness statement before the committee.
The 5-member Committee set up by Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye Jnr. has been tasked to probe and establish the truth in the matter.
Hon. Muntaka stated in no uncertain terms that "I was shocked" that the issue was being peddled around by his best friend.
He expressed distrust in his friendship with Hon. Ayariga, resulting from the bribery saga.
He reiterated that he never had any conversation with Hon. Ayariga regarding the alleged bribery neither did he play any role in the issue.

I happened to listen to Adom FM this morning and there is this Village Champion Girl on that show who always refers everything to Berekum Cato; I must say she needs to be talked to because her assertion and analogy on issues stinks! She talks as if she knows everything but I hope she will sit down one day and listen to the tapes of her assertions and discussions and she will see how folly she's been sounding. And that Captain Smart too can't control his show.
DO NOT BE SHOCKED AND ALWAYS HAVE IT AT BACK OF YOUR MIND THAT NOT ALL THOSE WHO LAUGH WITH LIKE OR LOVE, THOSE SMILES ARE JUST CAMOUFLAG,BEWARE OF EVEN THE NDC, THE PARTY BELONG TO
Massa; this matter is so conmfusing and very subjective and should not be investigated by parliament ; why should parliament investigate itself ; most of these MPs are frineds and are related in many ways ; a retired judge should have been employed to investigate or CHARJ without any bias ; I am begining to suspect that this Nana Addo government is attempting to sink rapidly into the Cessipit of corruption cheating and lies ; Nana Addo should call these MPs to order because for me there is a whiff of lies and 'NOKOFIO' with these MPs just lying as usual; something that befell the NDC and Jon Mahama ; NPP and Nana Addo should be careful because the 'PEOPLE'are watching OOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!and will not forgive them if they do not fufil their promises such as collecting the woyome cash and tackling corruption the system because to me corruption has already stated to rear its ***barred word*** head again ; just look at the KOfi Adams case of state stolen cars registered ; the police took 'Nokofio' and let off Kofi Adams -WHY ?NANA ADDO BE CAREFUL OTHERWISE YOU SHALL BE ON TERM PRESIDENT OOOOOOOO!!!!!!
With this division in your camp, NPP is going to have a field day. NDC will be in opposition for long. If there was no bribe, take back your words and apologize. If there was a bribe, insist and provide evidence. I can see the attempt to satisfy both NDC interest and NPP interests for ulterior motives and that may not augur well for Muntaka or anybody. You are trying to scratch your backs and create allies on both sides for selfish benefits.
I doubt Ayariga is Muntaka's best friend. Hon. Muntaka swore he didn't give any money or say any thing untoward regarding the money.Knowing the seriousness of swearing falsely in the name of Allah, he was now suggesting he had been advised not to swear. But again, he did not shy away from saying he was Muslim. Was he not a Muslim when the alleged Pamapas case happened when he was the Youth and Sports Minister? All should remember Ayariga has never said he received bribe. He said he had not worked for Hon. Boakye Agyarko for him to be paid. Why should Muntaka be alluding to friendship? I can undoubtedly say he did this to court sympathy. Hon. Ayariya has been very consistent in his submission, so far it only Muntak and Joe-Wise who have been moving stands with their narratives, and appealing to the emotions of the public. The unfortunate thing is the truth may never be unravelled as none of those who alleged money had been given to them, at any point made mention of being given bribes. They said they had received some money which they deemed untoward, and shouldn't have been given to them so they returned it. Now it is left with the committee and the public to define what that money was. Remember, they did not say they received bribe even though by implication whatever was given was bribe. Somebody is lying but posterity shall judge that person. Well the committee will be receiving memoranda, so we wait what other members of the committee or parlament shall send to the Hon. Joe Ghartey's committee. Ghana shall stand tall at the end of the day.
If Hon. Muntaka says Ayariga is his best friend then I now understand why he (Ayariga) sought to use him to play mischief. Ayariga was 100% sure that since he and Hon. Muntaka were best of pals and from the same party, Muntaka would support him against the NPP no matter what and follow him into the gutter. That was why he did that so do not be shocked Hon Muntaka. Next time take good friends who will bring glory to you but not seek to take advantage of your friendship in a wrong way leading to disgrace.
Familarity breeds contempt.
OKODJATO JUST WANTED TO SHOW HIS SHARP TEETH. HE ONLY CAME TO STATE THAT HE IS NOT PART OF THE CONSPIRACY TO DEFAME SOME PEOPLE BECAUSE HIS PASTOR HAS REMINDED HIM THAT IT IS WRONG, IMMORAL AND UNGODLY TO DO SUCH A THING. HE HOWEVER, DID NOT DENY THAT ANYBODY WITHIN THE MINORITY MADE THAT STATEMENT. IN FACT AYARIGA IN HIS APPEARANCE BEFORE THE SAME COMMITTEE HAD ALREADY ADMITTED THAT HE MADE THE INSINUATED THAT WHY SHOULD THEY BE WORRIED IF SIMILAR ALLEGATION OF CORRUPTION HAS MADE AGAINST FORMER PRESIDENT MAHAMA AFTER WHICH OSEI OWUSU REACTED TO SAY THAT SO IT IS POLITICAL EQUALIZATION AND THIS CAUSED EVERYBODY TO LAUGH. THE APPEARANCE OF OKODJATO WAS THEREFORE NOT NECESSARY SINCE IT DID NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. OKODJATO HAD RATHER WANTED TO USE THE OCCASSION TO SPEAK AT THE COMMITTEE BY THE BACK DOOR, WHEN HE HAD NOT SUBMITTED ANY MEMORANDUM. HE WAS NOT SINCERE BUT THE COMMITTEE WAS SO SMART. THEY UNANIMOUSLY NOTICED HIS DECEPTION AND REJECTED HIS ANTICS.
So are we all saying Mahama Ayariga did not receive any cash as he said...
Bob Marley in one of his songs sings,"your worse enemy could be your best friend and your best friend your worse enemy. Some will eat and drink with you and behind they try to eliminate you."just revise you friendship status with him and you'll be just fine.
