President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to rescue the economy from its current bad state.
The President made this pledge in his first State of the Nation Address at Parliament since he was elected Head of the Fourth Republic.
In his address, President Nana Akufo-Addo noted that though much thought was not given to whether the state was spending wisely to improve the lives of the people and irrespective of the ailing economy bequeathed to him, he was voted into power not "to complain", but "to get things done".
Consequently, he said, he is "determned to do just that" and told the House that his government has laid out programmes that will competently work out to better the lives of Ghanaians.
"Mr. Speaker, it gives me no joy to tell the story of the economy as it is; as we inherited. Too much time, energy and resources were spent in the past in my view without a deliberate, conscious assessment of the impact on jobs and whether or not, we were spending wisely to improve the lives of the people, communities and businesses.
"But I was elected by the overwhelming Ghanaian people to complain. I was elected to get things done. I was elected to fix what is broken. And my government and I are determined to do just that," he said.
President Akufo-Addo reiterate his confidence to fix the economic challenges and stated categorically that his government will succeed in bringing stability and development to the country.
"Mr. Speaker, in the beginning of March; the Minister for Finance will come to this House to lay out in the national budget the details of our economic policy and the clear roadmap that we have laid out for taking the country out of its current predicament and onto a sustainable path of recovery, jobs creation and prosperity. I am absolute, in my confidence, that we have the programme, the competence, the commitment and the goodwill of the people to turn things round. By the grace of God, we will succeed."

I have no doubt in my mind that the Ghana will work again. You see from NAADA that he is really poised for action.
Excuses upon excuses. The cedi is sinking like water now with fuel prices rising daily yet Mr. president is still attacking Mahama like he is on campaign trail. Do your things and leave Mahama in peace, he has given the presidency to you, turn Ghana into heaven like you promised.
The man was still on campaign tour, he has said nothing new except trying to run away from his promises and using Mahama as his excuse. He was just preparing the grounds to escape his unrealistic promises. Only ***barred word*** believe this man's ***barred word***, didn't he say all these things during his campaign and asked Ghanaians to vote him so that he can come and turn Ghana into a nation where milk and honey flows? Now he is on Mahama's neck for a cover up. ***barred word***, you think ruling a nation is like talking? Where is your so called world class economist Bawumiah? and if you have him why complain? we will soon hit streets with demonstrations if you fail. No excuse, just perform.
Nana I keep my comments. Its only the start and we are dropping wrong cards.
Lovely delivery. Am proud to be a Ghanaian. Nana, your speech was precise and on point. God bless you.
where is John Mahama, Lordina and akua donkor, missing in action?
Thanks so much Nana for not being a complain leader but a for-course man to progress for the betterment of Ghana. God bless you and give you the strength to do all your hearts desires and people of Ghana's will.
