A group of youth belonging to the New Patriotic Party in Kpando in the Volta Region is protesting against the selection and possible nomination of one Ernest Quist as the Chief Executive for the Kpando Municipal Assembly.
With support from elders of the party in the area, the group accused the NPP National Executives of not consulting constituency stakeholders in the appointment of assembly members to the Kpando Municipal Assembly.
At a demonstration staged on Thursday to register their displeasure, the group blamed the Minister for Lands and Forestry, Peter Amewu, for the interference, claiming that he is doing so because he does not come from Kpando.
For over three hours, the irate youth marched through the principal streets of Kpando amidst drumming and dancing bearing placards some of which read “don’t impose Quist on Kpando people”, “Peter Amewu concentrate on your new job”, “we can choose our own MCE”, “we do not want leaders who have no vote”, “stop killing our party spirit Peter” and “keep off Mr. Amewu, kpando is not for sale.
Meanwhile, members of council of elders, polling station executives and the youth wing of the party in the constituency held a news conference to outline the negative events happening in the Kpando municipality.

Elvis Djampoh and Joe Badasu day of shame. This attempt to truncate table in favor of Djampoh will not succeed but will fail and fall on their own identity. When the terrain was difficult to handle Badasu left the Constituency. As for Djampoh the least said of him the better, even his parliamentary candidate's fee had to be secure through Ernest. Billboards in the Kpando constituency was solely on the shoulders of the Party Chairman. Now he Djampoh, Badasu and cohorts want to harvest what they have not sown. Greedy bustards to borrow from JJ Rawlings. I pray the NPP find a way to deal with such persons by sanction to serve as deterrents.
