Former Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor says figures put out by President Akufo-Addo regarding the energy sector are false.
President Akufo-Addo stated that the nation lost $3 billion during the power crises last year.
The President quoted the figures from the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER).
He further disclosed that the country lost about GHC 618 million in economic activities in 2014, adding that the figure is "equivalent to 2 percent of GDP".
President stressed that the power crises under the erstwhile Mahama administration which cost the nation 3 billion dollars also resulted in thousands of Ghanaians losing their jobs.
Reacting to the issue, Hon. Jinapor noted that the report by the President is misleading because the previous government put pragmatic measures in place to curb the energy challenge.
He said the Mahama government ensure that there was no load shedding by the end of 2015.
He also noted that Ghana didn't lose over GHC 600 million in 2014 as reported by President Akufo-Addo.
He asked the President to get his facts straight.
“The point is that when I was Deputy Minister, from 2013, 2014 by the end of 2015 we resolved the deficit. In the whole of the year 2016, we never had any load shedding programme, because we had enough capacity beyond our demand.
“If we had any outage it was a localized outage. And so it couldn’t have been that in the four years of President Mahama, we had load shedding throughout. The other issue is that, if you do the arithmetic, the President claims that in 2014 alone, we lost about 600 million. If you multiply 600 million by four, you certainly not get 3 billion and so we will like to interrogate that information subject to critical scrutiny,” he told Accra-based Citi FM.

Mr Jinapor, I can recall Mr Mahama "giving direction / instructions" on power outages / dumsor in 2012 immediately after the demise of late Mr Atta Mills and in his campaigns before the 2012 elections. please check your facts. if it started in 2012 and lasted in 2015 ending how long is the period?. who is then telling lies? Onyame ehu mo!!!!!
IF NO NDC MEMBERS GOES TO PRISON FOR CORRUPTION, IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS GUY. HE IS MAKING NOISE, RAVING AND RANTING EVERYWHERE BECAUSE OF THE MASSIVE CORRUPTION THAT TOOK PLACE UNDER HIS WATCH. HIS BEHAVIOUR ALONE HAS EXPOSED HIM BIG TIME.

Ghana loses 57 Dollars monthly due to Dumsor. This is a report in the Daily Graphic edition on 15 May 2015 and written by Charles Andoh. This translates into 686 Dollars in 2014 according tpo a research conducted by Dr Ackah of ISSER: So I am asking that former minister to come and apologise to Ghanaians for being ***barred word*** of the factg. Jinapor should be ashamed of himself. He is very uneducated and very incompetent because anybody who googles will find this report
You see the ineptitude and incompetence of NDC appointees? The president gives his source of information as ISSER report, a certain Jinapor says the president is lying. Therefore, the ISSER report is a big lie. That all the intellectuals who put up the report are liars. Mr. Jinapor, why don't you attack the people who developed the report but find it comfortable to attack the person who just quoted from the report? And what are the true figures on the issue of the 'dumsor', Jinapor? The NDC has still not weaned themselves from the loss of 2016 and the inherent hatred they have for Nana Akufo-Addo. What a shame.
Babies with sharp teeth
When sensible people talk, f**ls make mockery of it. When the President cites ISSER, you come and make top of head predictions. Because he says in 2014 alone we lost 600 million, you take only 600 million and multiply by 4. Is it the case that all the years had 600 million or the loss may have been increasing? Did he cite an authority? Stu**pid responses with the aim of making us all stu**pid. If you have nothing to say, keep quiet.
Masa was there a cummulative loss or not? Even if it was $1.00 it amounted to incompetence period.
