Member of Parliament for Akwatia in the Eastern Region, Mercy Adu Gyamfi, popularly known as Ama Sey, has, for the first time, delivered a speech on the floor of parliament.
Ms Gyamfi entered Parliament this year after beating the National Democratic Congress’ Baba Jamal, the incumbent, in the 2016 General Elections.
Before entering parliament, she was a hairdresser operating a salon in Akwetia.
She was mocked at by her opponents for her inability to speak English fluently.
In her maiden speech on Tuesday, Ama Sey expressed concerns about the manner in which the current management of the Ghana Consolidated Diamond Limited situated in her constituency, was running the place.
She said, among other things, that the company “promises to create 25,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect jobs for support services…It further promises to bring a turnaround strategy plan that will lift the company.”

COMEDIANS. EVEN READING FROM A PAPER IS A JOB BY ITSELF.CRAZY COUNTRY WITH CRAZY EDUCATED ILLITERATES.
A very big big biiiiiiig clap for to Hon Ama Sey. You have improved to shame your accusers. The sky will be the limit. Happy for you.
There are PhD holders, masters holders and first degree holders in the House who have never opened their mouths to say anything. This woman with her limited education has the boldness to speak and speak on something important to her people. Why do we laugh? This is her second speech in parliament. This one is better than the first, and I can say she is improving very fast. God bless her.
Keep it up madam. You made meaningful statement which ought to be looked into. Forget about those who speak grammar yet their speech doesn't make sense. In Ghana it's unfortunate that we tend to see those who talk a lot as rather working.
That is great, Hon, go higher and higher
well done madam for upgrading yourself. am so proud of you.
