Minister of Education, Mathew Opoku-Prempeh has fired salvoes at former President John Dramani Mahama.
The former President on Saturday criticised the Akufo-Addo led government for implementing a broad Free Senior High School (SHS) policy in haste.
He urged government to call for a stakeholders meeting to address challenges facing the Free SHS policy because it is stifling other developmental projects.
“The problem this government is facing and it is in their own interest, is that, Free Senior High School is absorbing all the fiscal space they have and so almost every money you have, you are having to put it into Free Senior High School. So you can’t pay District Assemblies Common Fund, you can’t pay NHIS (National Health Insurance Scheme), you can’t pay GETFund (Ghana Education Trust Fund), you can’t pay other salaries and things because all your money is going into Free Senior High School,” Mahama said this weekend, during the Unity Walk organised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Somanya in the Eastern region.
But interacting with Kwami Sefa-Kayi in an exclusive interview on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ Monday, the Education Minister sharply disagreed with the former President.
According to him, “if he wishes us bad, it will fall back on him…what does he want us to call a stakeholders meeting for?”
“While in office, he never bought one text for any school. Ask him where his policy document or guideline for his progressive free SHS is?.…there was nothing like that. You were not able to do it in your time and now that we have implemented it, you are complaining…he should tell NDC members not to take their children to school to enjoy the free SHS because it is not good…” he added.

If not akufo addo and the npp ***barred word*** government, who in his right mind will make napo the unenlighten bushman a minister, big mistake
The former president said the policy was implemented in a haste and that a more elaborate discussion should have been done on it. Is this comment true or false? we can now commend or condemn the former president. Napo shd rather dispute this claim. It is a mark of gross ingnorant to be shouting over debt left behind by your predecessor because thats how governance is
I biliv Nana is ready to listen to advice on free SHS but certainly not from a pes-si-mist like this man - Mahama who ha-ve no pol-icy cl-ue and would want to sp-oil any go-od th-ing Nana en-vis-ages would he-lp Ghana. We know his posi-tion on the policy already so Mr former Prez le-ave Ghana-ians alone ooo tom. Napo pls dont mi-nd him, focus your energy on grad-ua-lly fix-ing the problems bcos we love the policy a lot. After all we know he is just an at-ten-tion see-ker. He has a track re-cord of des-tro-ying eve-ry go-od policy in-clu-ding expo-sing them to hard co-re co-rrup-tion. Mr. Mini-ster pls save your bre-ath.
Oh this ***barred word***/ yesterday’s man koraa haba194948! Who left NHIS arrears of over 1 billion cedis, despite implementing some fictitious ‘progressive free SHS’. And he’ not ashamed to yap yap. Shameful.
This is not Ghana I used to know. Now morality is at its lowest ebb. Money is being chased in all conceivable and possible ways. Master come to Amerika, we have so many peaceful towns and cities here.
Some sold their wares just to raise money to pay fees. In one of my visits to Controller and Accountant General's Dept., once of the data input clerks I had contact with used to complain of school fees. See, Prez Mahama crying more than the bereaved. Let him delude himself, I pray Martin Amidu will rope him in the corrupts gang of NDC. Are they parents not releived of the termly payments of fees?
Your answer to this question is an implied answer to yours.
Not even the former president Mahama is sensible enough to realize that continuously fighting this free SHS policy is the most si*lly and suicidal move. He is still in his state of 1docy. I pray the NDC actually elect him again as their flag bearer. Herrrrr!
Napo, don't waste your breath on John Mahama, he has lost his mojo and he is confused. His people have started going to jail and that is a worry for him.
Former President is too much, just a small punch and look at how Nabo is messing himself up.
